Today is World Biodiversity Day! 🌏🌱

In recognition of the importance of biodiversity conservation efforts and in honour of May's Migratory Bird Day, ANZA Korea invites you to join us next Sunday, May 31st, for a morning of environmental clean-up and eco-conservation at the Yeouido Saetgang Ecological Park!

Both ANZA members and newcomers are welcome to join the event.

Lamingtons, banana bread & more at ! 🍞🥥☕️

Thank you to everyone who joined our May Coffee Morning to enjoy baked treats and Australian-style coffee in the lively company of ANZA community members and newcomers.

It was especially meaningful to have Jan from join us to share his vision & mission in supporting the homeless through food & clothing donations.

We look forward to continuing to bring together diverse community groups and create meaningful synergies for empowering positive change through volunteering and other initiatives 🙏

Seventy-five years ago this week, United Nations forces halted a major Chinese offensive in the hills of central Korea, blocking the road to Seoul and changing the course of the Korean War.

Between 23 and 25 April 1951, the 27th British Commonwealth Brigade—including Australian, Canadian, New Zealand and British troops—was rushed back into action at Kapyong, despite being earmarked for rest and relief. Facing overwhelming numbers, the brigade held its ground long enough for United Nations forces further south to regroup.

Australian troops from the 3rd Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment, supported by Canadian infantry and New Zealand artillery, endured repeated assaults in bitter fighting. Their stand helped prevent a breakthrough that could have threatened South Korea’s capital for the third time in less than a year.

More than 17,000 Australians served in the Korean War. Of those, 340 lost their lives, 43 of whom are still listed as missing. The Battle of Kapyong remains one of Australia’s most significant actions of the war.

As Australia marks the 75th anniversary, Kapyong stands as a reminder of shared sacrifice, allied cooperation, and the cost of defending peace in a divided world.

Anzac Day is a significant day for all Australians and New Zealanders as it is a day to remember all 🇦🇺🇳🇿 military personnel who have served and died in conflict, including during the Korean War.

To support planning, members of the community wanting to attend the Dawn Service are kindly requested to send an e-mail with the subject heading ‘Anzac Day Dawn Service – FULL NAME’ along with information about other personnel in the email, to the Australian Embassy at [email protected].
