From livelihood-oriented assistance centers to women’s sports, they explored practical initiatives that could gradually strengthen women’s confidence, health, and opportunities.

At our conference, speakers highlighted that meaningful change often starts small, in trusted, everyday settings.

From sewing circles in Czechoslovakia to daily mobilization under the Women’s Union in North Korea, these testimonies remind us how ordinary spaces can either cultivate agency or reinforce control.

If change is to happen, it needs to be rooted in daily life, attentive to women’s realities, and focused on rebuilding confidence, dignity, and choice.

Care that includes care for the caregiver.

At our conference, speakers highlighted how practical, community-rooted reforms — including lessons from Vietnam — can support women’s dignity and self-reliance.

A key message was that human rights education does not need to be grand or abstract. What matters is that it is grounded in everyday life, strengthens women’s inner capacity, and responds to their real needs.

What could low-risk reform look like in practice?

Conference speakers emphasised that meaningful change does not always start with big political reforms. In some contexts, small, technical steps can be both more feasible and more impactful.

From skills-based education to community welfare initiatives and international cooperation, the focus was on what can realistically work — and endure.
