DR Congo: 100 Days into Ebola, the Fight to Stop Its Spread Continues

What Happened? 🇨🇩🦠
• One hundred days into the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the country had recorded 5,515 confirmed cases and 2,642 deaths, with the fatality rate close to 48%.
• The response has expanded rapidly: 19 laboratories can now analyse more than 3,000 samples a day, while contact-tracing completion reached 96%. But major risks remain — around 60% of deaths have occurred outside treatment centres.

• WHO says Ebola can be controlled, but insecurity, displacement and limited access to healthcare continue to make containment difficult. Cross-border population movements also mean the risk does not stop at national borders.
