Have you ever asked yourself, “Why do I do this work?” 💭

On August 6th, as part of Wonders’ signature employee empowerment program, Lunch & Learns, we invited Dr. Han-cheol Jeong, a Venture Capitalist*, to share his insights on the topic: ‘Work, Workplace, and the VC World: Why Do We Do This Work?’ ✨

During the session, Dr. Jeong shared his inspiring career journey, key lessons learned along the way, and stories from the VC industry. One definition particularly resonated with us—he described himself as “someone who helps entrepreneurs,” acting as a Sherpa* who guides founders all the way to the summit.

Did you know?
When VCs make an investment, the single most critical factor they look at is the entrepreneur’s ‘Why.’ While *what* you build matters, *who* is doing it and *why* they do it always comes first.

As many of you know (you do, right? 🥹), Wonders runs youth entrepreneurship education and startup incubation programs in Laos and Cambodia.

This session inspired us to reflect on our own mission: Wonders, too, must be a reliable Sherpa for local youth, empowering them to discover their true potential and their own ‘Why’ so they can reach their personal summits. ⛰️🧙

💬 실패도 하나의 배움이라고 생각해요.
“학생이라면 새로운 것에 도전하고 경험을 쌓는 게 중요하다고 생각해요. 성별이나 경제적 여건에 따라 스스로 가능성을 제한하지 않았으면 좋겠습니다. 중요한 것은 ‘얼마나 배우고 싶어하는가, 스스로에게 도전할 의지가 있는가, 그리고 계속 앞으로 나아가는가’예요.
전에 참여했던 프로그램에서 첫 단계에 실패한 경험이 있어요. 하지만 그것도 하나의 배움이라고 생각해요.”

Everyone hesitates when facing a new challenge.
However, instead of hesitating, these young people are building possibilities step by step.

Through Wonders' DYNAMIC project, Cambodian youth are learning entrepreneurship by brainstorming business ideas, understanding customer problems, and testing their ideas firsthand.

💬 "I consider failure a learning experience."
As a student, I think it's crucial to try new things and gain experience. I hope people don't limit their potential based on gender or financial background. What truly matters is 'how eager you are to learn, whether you have the will to challenge yourself, and if you keep moving forward.'
In a previous program I participated in, I failed at the very first stage. But I consider even that to be a valuable learning experience.

💬 "I wanted to see whether to keep developing our idea or pivot."
Even though I completed ABB Season 2, I joined Season 3 to build upon what I had learned. I also wanted to see whether we should continue developing our idea or pivot after validating it.
If you have a business idea you want to develop, I highly recommend joining a program like ABB. It’s a great opportunity to gain knowledge, test your ideas, and learn more about entrepreneurship.

고산지대 소수민족 커피 농부들의 마을로 향하고 있습니다.

Launched with support from the sales profits of Wonders' social enterprise, ‘Aromdee’, this cooperative is run entirely by the youth themselves—from business planning and eco-friendly agricultural product design to production, sales, accounting, and marketing.

The 19 young pioneers who took this wonderful first step have shared their very first fruits with Wonders! 👏

On July 7th, the Luang Prabang Provincial Government, the Viengkham and Nambak District Governments, the Kaipen Women Producers Group, and Wonders Team all came together! 🤝

It was a meaningful gathering to share the challenges faced in producing and selling 'Kaipen'—a local specialty of Luang Prabang and a reliable source of income for residents—with the government, and to seek practical solutions and strategies.

The most memorable moment of the day?
Seeing the leaders of the Women Producers Group courageously share the difficulties they face in making Kaipen and actively request the support they need. 👏

In response to their voices, the Luang Prabang Provincial Government, along with the district governments, decided to implement follow-up measures to protect the environment where 'Kai' (river w**d) grows and to ensure the community can continue producing Kaipen sustainably! 🎉

🎉 The 6 startup teams that won last year’s Bandos DYNAMIC Startup Competition have finally and successfully completed their 6-month first-round in-depth incubation process! 🎉

While every single team has achieved deeply meaningful growth in their respective fields, AgroNature and The Boxes stood out by demonstrating particularly impressive potential. As the selected final winners, they will now receive further commercialization funding along with an additional six months of professional mentorship! 👏

🌱 AgroNature is a startup that produces organic fertilizer by utilizing agricultural waste.
Over the past six months, they have rapidly expanded their business foundation, achieving an impressive milestone of selling 95 tons of fertilizer and generating 20,900 dollars in revenue. Along the way, they have connected with 85 local farms and established 2 new business partnerships.

📦 The Boxes is Cambodia’s very first all-in-one B2B platform that easily and quickly connects businesses with custom packaging.
During the program, they scaled their operations by acquiring over 300 corporate clients, linking with 3 new suppliers, and reaching nearly 1 million views online. DYNAMIC stands for "Developing Youth and Nurturing Agripreneurship for Market Impact and Community Growth." It is a joint initiative by Wonders International, ChorogUsan for Children, and KOICA, working alongside Cambodian partners NICC(National Incubation Center of Cambodia) and RUA(Royal University of Agriculture).
