Early Closure of Applications – 2025 ATU Referee Education Program

Dear ATU Taekwondo Family,

Warm greetings from the Asian Taekwondo Union.

We sincerely appreciate your great interest in the 2025 ATU Referee Education Program organized by ATU.

Due to the overwhelming number of applications, we would like to inform you that the registration for the program will be closed earlier than scheduled, on October 15, 2025, at 23:59 (KST).

After the application deadline, the final list of selected participants will be reviewed and confirmed. Only the selected applicants will be individually notified by email. We kindly ask all applicants not to make any flight or personal arrangements until receiving the official confirmation.

Once again, we sincerely thank you for your enthusiastic support and interest. We look forward to your continued participation in ATU’s upcoming programs and initiatives.

Warm greetings from the Asian Taekwondo Union.

The ATU is pleased to announce the 2025 ATU Referee Education Program (Kyorugi, Poomsae, Para Taekwondo), to be held under the direct organization of ATU. This program is designed to enhance the professionalism and practical capacity of referees, strengthen fair and transparent competition management, and expand international referee exchange across Asia, thereby contributing to the sustainable growth of Taekwondo and the elevated standard of Asian competitions.

Program Information
- Title: 2025 ATU Referee Education Program (Kyorugi, Poomsae, Para Taekwondo)
- Participants: Up to 100 International Referees from the Asian Region (WT IR license holders,
Open to all)
※ If applications exceed the limit, adjustments may be made for countries submitting multiple
participants.
- Participation Fee: Free of Charge
- Date: December 17–20, 2025 (Check-in: Dec. 16 / Check-out: Dec. 21)
- Venue: Korea National Sport University (1239, Yangjae-daero, Songpa-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea)
- Provided by ATU: 5 nights hotel accommodation (with breakfast/shared by 2 people) &
local transport between hotel and venue
- To be arranged individually: Airfare and airport–hotel transportation
- Application Deadline: October 20, 2025 (11:59 pm, KST)
- Application Method: Submit completed application form via email to [email protected]

*Special Note: Referees who achieve excellent performance or demonstrate exemplary participation will be awarded a certificate of recognition and may be given priority for referee selection at ATU-promoted competitions in 2026.

" *Celebrating Growth and Excellence at the 2025 Asian Para Taekwondo Championships in Kuching, Malaysia*"

The vibrant city of Kuching, Malaysia, played host to a landmark event in the history of Asian Para Taekwondo as the 2025 Asian Para Taekwondo Championship took place from July 31 to August 1. Organised under the auspices of the Asian Taekwondo Union (ATU) and World Taekwondo (WT), the event was a celebration of sporting excellence, resilience, and inclusion.

This year’s championship highlighted the significant strides taken in the development of Para Taekwondo in both Poomsae and Kyorugi. The technical quality, competitive spirit, and confidence displayed by the athletes underscored the growing maturity of Para Taekwondo across Asia. Many of the participants represented national programmes that have made major investments in the inclusion and training of para athletes.

In total, the championship welcomed 134 participation from:

*- 17* countries + Refugee Team in Para Kyorugi, and

*- 7* countries in Para Poomsae.

Such strong representation is a testament to the growing commitment of Member National Associations to para sport and their belief in the potential of para athletes. It also reflects the impact of regional development programmes aimed at expanding the reach and accessibility of Para Taekwondo throughout Asia.

The 2025 championship in Kuching was not only a competitive event but also a reflection of the unity, dedication, and continued growth of the Asian Para Taekwondo movement. As we move forward, efforts will continue to strengthen classification systems, coach and referee education, and grassroots development to further elevate the sport on the continental and global stage.

We are pleased to announce that the Asian Taekwondo Union will be organizing the educational events in Dubai, U.A.E, from December 17 to 22, 2024.

These events are aimed at enriching our Taekwondo community and fostering excellence in our sport.

Key Details:

- Open to All
- Course: Kyorugi / Poomsae / Para-Taekwondo (You can freely take one, two, or three courses.)

Participants who complete the education program will receive a certificate of participation and a souvenir. Furthermore, outstanding participants who actively engage with a positive attitude will be commended.

In addition, we are proud to have professional instructors leading these educational programs.

We believe that these educational events present a valuable opportunity for our Taekwondo community to enhance skills, knowledge, and collaboration. We encourage your active participation and engagement.

Announcement: 1st World Para Poomsae Championship (G14) and Bahrain Para Taekwondo Open Championship (G2)

The Bahrain Paralympic Committee and World Taekwondo announce the 1st World Para Poomsae Championship (G14) and Bahrain Para Taekwondo Open Championship (G2), set for November 26-29, 2024, in Bahrain.

These events are crucial steps towards the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.The championships were made possible through the collaboration of Mr. Mohamed Bin Jamal, Chair of the ATU Para Taekwondo Committee, under Prof. Kyu Seok Lee's supervision, and the WT Para Taekwondo Committee, led by Mr. Usman Dildar.

Building on Para Taekwondo's success at Paris 2024, these events will showcase athletes' skills and dedication. A Memorandum of Understanding between Mr. Ali Mohamed Almajed of the Bahrain Paralympic Committee and Dr. Chungwon Choue of World Taekwondo highlights Bahrain's commitment to inclusivity and its role as a global sports hub.

These historic championships herald a "Time of Change" for Para Taekwondo, empowering athletes and elevating the sport globally. We look forward to welcoming the international Para Taekwondo community to Bahrain for this transformative event.
