The Pyeongchang Special Music Festival was consequently newly established to continue the ideals of the Special Olympics. It aims to promote interaction in music and improvement in musically talented people with intellectual disabilities, moreover, to contribute to promoting the spirit of the Special Olympics which fosters the inclusion and acceptance of people with intellectual disabilities as members of society.
