This Group is formed with the sole aim of connecting and networking with all PSPS, Yeungnam University ''ALUMNI'' from AFRICA to promote Saemaul Undong Movement.WHY AFRICA? We realised all countries including Africans, Asians, Europeans, Arabians, Latinos, undergoing saemaul training at PSPS automatically fall under the Bigger umbrella or platform called the GLOBAL SAEMAUL DEVELOPMENT NETWORK (GSD
N) and functions as our mother body for all alumni saemaul activities. Yet as part of efforts to further strengthen the African Saemaul AGENDA, we deem it befitting to have a common platform to share ideas, update one another on saemaul activities in our respective African countries and cooperate effectively. The saemaul community Development model approach received a further ''boost'' via global recognition as the UN endorsed it as the Blue print for all developing countries to adopt in fighting poverty and ensuring an improved standard of living. This unique approach will be tailored to suit local conditions in Africa for a smooth implementation. The Saemaul Undong, also known as the New Community Movement, New Village Movement, Saemaul Movement was a political initiative launched on April 22, 1970 by South Korean late president Park Chung-hee to modernize the rural South Korean economy. DILIGENCE, SELF-HELP & COOPERATION were the key ingredients.Our Vision for this Group: To improve the living standards of rural communities in Africa.Our Mission for this Group: Initiating community development projects to help achieve 17 SDGs.The Park Chung Hee School of Policy and Saemaul (PSPS) awakened the wonder of human cultural diversity in the world. Africans studying Saemaul Undong in this institution for over one year with foreign nationals from every corner of the world accorded us the right lenses ''eyes'' and mindset to the amazing variety of cultural diversity in the world and the need to co-exist and cooperate with one another for a better worldSaemaul Undong was a unique community development model suggested by the late President of Korea, Park Chung Hee on April 22, 1970 as a village movement to improve the living conditions of rural communities and Korea’s overall economic development in general.The Park Chung Hee School of Policy and Saemaul (‘PSPS’) was established as an academic institution to educate and share Korea’s experiences in uplifting her nation. Accordingly, PSPS has embarked on a mission to foster learning of Saemaul Undong and impart the knowledge, skills and the Saemaul spirit to aspiring students from developing countries across the globe. .SMU and the Korean secret to greater transformation to the wonder of the world is our greatest weapon to take back Home, Africa for the needed development in our various rural areas since the Korean miraculous transformation is worthy of emulation.Our life experience at PSPS has shaped, molded and plied us into a more prudent, diligent, self-assured and well-rounded future leaders and saemaul soldiers ''saemaulians'' for Africa.However, all other nationalities who believe in the African saemaul dream can volunteer and join the crusade.
