Important coverage of the Filton 6 Trial at Woolwich Crown Court.

Real Media’s ongoing coverage of the ‘Filton 6’ trial

Six activists are charged with criminal damage, and one, Sam Corner, is accused of grievous bodily harm with intent. Our coverage has been updated with the first eight days of the trial, including Sam’s evidence, as well as news of the policing of protests outside the court.

Trudi Warner, an activist and retired social worker, was one of two people arrested after sitting in silence outside the entrance to Woolwich Crown Court last Thursday with signs reading: ‘Jurors have an absolute right to acquit a defendant according to their conscience’ and ‘Jurors deserve to hear the whole truth’.

On March 30, 2026, environmental defender Esra Işık was detained during protests and arrested. She was protesting opposing emergency land expropriation procedures linked to coal mining expansion in Akbelen Forest, located in southwestern Muğla, Turkey.

Her detention occurred in the context of ongoing resistance against the expansion of coal mining activities affecting forests, agricultural lands, and olive groves in the region. This is a vital campaign to sustain forests, climate and our global health: resisting the ongoing necro-politics of open cast coal mining.

We call on authorities to ensure the protection of fundamental rights and to release Esra Işık immediately.

The police have raided Westminster Quaker Meeting House again. The UK is entrenching itself in position as a State that invades a place of worship to pre-emptively arrest a group of young people for the thought crime of taking action to make our country a better and safer place for everyone.

Yesterday evening, 5 March 2026, for the second time in a year, the Metropolitan Police raided a Quaker Meeting House and arrested a number of young nonviolent activists who were meeting there, on the grounds that they were conspiring to commit a criminal act.

The room in Westminster Quaker Meeting House was let to Take Back Power to hold nonviolent direct action training. Quakers support the principle of nonviolent direct action, which aims to protest without harming people.

Oliver Robertson, head of witness and worship for Quakers in Britain, said: “For Quakers, faith and action are inseparable. Peaceful protest, prayer and nonviolent action are integral parts of many Quakers' religious life.

“Whilst we take the planning of criminal acts very seriously, we believe that this incident is a deliberate targeting of committed young people who want to make our country a more equitable place. This raid is part of a systematic stifling of dissent.

“That this is the second time in a year that the police have raided our meeting house dramatically illuminates the broader trend in the UK of cracking down on those who disagree with the government. The right to protest is fundamental to our democracy. It's a key part of how people make their voices heard between elections.”

Today European Legal Support Centre, with Forensic Architecture, has launched a toolkit on repression of Palestine solidarity campaigns: Britain's Index of Repression. The 964 incidents of repression recorded expose the depth and spread of criminalisation, legal repression and threats over 6 years from 2019 to 2025. This resource is a direct challenge to the oppressive treatment of people who stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Not1More and our network of Forest Defenders extend sincere solidarity with the people of Resguardo Colonial Cañamomo Lomaprieta, Colombia, following the horrific murder of Indigenous Authority José Albino Cañas Ramirez, committed on February 16 2026.

José Albino Cañas Ramirez was killed in his home. At approximately 8:50 pm two unknown assailants arrived at the residence, located in the Portachuelo Community. They fired at Jose Albino Cañas Ramirez, with four shots to his body, which minutes later caused his death. Subsequently they escaped using internal roads of the reserve that lead from the community of Portachuelo to the central road in the jurisdiction of the municipality of Supia.

We express our sincere condolences to José Ramirez’ family, to his community, and to the people of Cañamomo and Lomaprieta.

This is a targeted attack on one of the leaders of the Emberá people and a violation of their right to self-determination, and cultural autonomy.

We join the Indigenous Reserve of Colonial Origin Cañamomo - Lomaprieta in calling on national and international human rights mechanisms to respond to guarantee the collective safety of the Reserve and to ensure a full investigation to identify and bring to justice the intellectual authors of this killing.

"We raise our voice to demand truth, justice and guarantees of non-repetition"

This week, the coal mine company entered and destroyed the remaining olive groves with the support of Turkey’s armed forces. The area is located by the ruins of Akbelen forest in Muğla province, Turkey. The olive groves had been the last shield preventing the expansion of the neighbouring coal mine, which already covers 55 square kilometres and has destroyed forests, agricultural lands, olive groves and eight villages, as well fuelling pollution and climate change. This attack comes as a direct result of the Turkish government pushing through legal reforms this summer that open up protected areas to mining and energy projects.

Four members of the local community in Akbelen were taken into custody but have since been released. We demand that the Turkish authorities stop their attempts to silence legitimate protest. We call on the international community to condemn the Turkish government's undermining of land protections.
