🎶💛 The sound of new beginnings!

This week marked the start of our new music groups with Nicola, and what a wonderful way to begin.

Our music program now has 27 children, including both returning students and those joining for the first time. Together, they're learning new instruments, developing new skills, and discovering the joy of making music.

We can't wait to watch their confidence and talents continue to grow over the coming months.

A big thank you to Nicola for sharing her passion and helping make this musical journey possible. 🎵

🏠💪 What you don't always see behind a house build...

When we share photos of a completed home, it's easy to forget everything that happens behind the scenes to get there.

With house donations flowing in, our build crew have been working back-to-back, making sure each family receives their new home as quickly as possible. It isn't always easy.

On Houses 144 and 145, the power went out halfway through pouring the concrete slab. With no electricity came no access to water—something you definitely need when laying concrete! Instead of stopping, the team quickly came up with a new plan, worked together, and got the job done.

Now, on House 147, they're facing a different challenge: access. Getting materials and equipment to the site isn't straightforward, but as always, the team is finding solutions rather than excuses.

It's this determination that we're so proud of. Every challenge is met with teamwork, problem-solving, and a willingness to do whatever it takes for the families we support.

A house build is never just about bricks and concrete. It's about resilience, adaptability, and a crew that refuses to give up when things don't go to plan.

To our amazing build crew—thank you. Your hard work often goes unseen, but it never goes unappreciated. 💛

Wow, what a great write-up! đź“°

Thank you Michelle. You may remember her recent visit to Heartprint, where she led a communications careers workshop for our teenagers.

Thanks to the Phnom Penh Post for sharing Michelle's story. Have a read. Link in Bio!

Every time I visit Siem Reap, I find myself standing in awe of Angkor once again.

House 146 is complete!

This house is a little different from most of our builds because this time, it was one of our own receiving the keys to a brighter future.

After 10 years with Heartprint, Mao, our Hospitality Trainer and Head Cook, now has a home to call her own.

This wasn't just a build - it was a true community effort. Built with plenty of love, some quality second-hand building materials we already had on hand, and a whole lot of hard work from Mao's family, our incredible build crew, and members of the local community, this house is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when everyone pulls together.

By reusing materials wherever we can, we're able to stretch every donation a little further. In this case, it meant we could provide Mao's family with a little more than our standard home, creating a space that better suits their needs while remaining good stewards of the generosity entrusted to us.

Watching Mao and her family move into their new home has been incredibly special. She has spent the past decade helping others build brighter futures through Heartprint. It feels only fitting that now it's her turn.

A huge thank you to the East Maitland Rotary Club for making this build possible, and to Craig Goodman, whose additional contribution helped us provide those extra touches that made this home even more special. Together, you've given Mao and her family a place they can proudly call home.

Bi-Weekly Recap

It's been another busy fortnight at Heartprint, with exciting progress across our community!

Our team visited Kantha Bopha Hospital to discuss plans for a future recycled playground installation, helping create a fun and safe space where children can play, learn, and simply enjoy being kids.

🚲 20 Bicycles Distributed
Thanks to the incredible fundraising efforts of Kimberley and Gabe, 20 bicycles were distributed to students and families, making it easier to travel to school, work, and the market.

🏡 House 147 Complete

Dear Jackson,

It’s hard to believe how much time has passed. We still remember when you first arrived - you were just this young guy starting a new journey, and now you’ve grown into such an incredible person. It’s been so special watching you grow and become the person you are today.
Thank you for everything, Jackson Dunn . It’s difficult to put into words how much we’re going to miss you. The truth is, we already do. 🥹 Your kindness, positivity, and the way you always make people feel welcome have left such a lasting impression on all of us. You’ve brought so much laughter, encouragement, and happiness into our lives, and we’re so thankful for every memory we’ve shared with you.

As you and Con start this new chapter together, we hope it brings you endless happiness, love, success, and unforgettable adventures. You both deserve all the good things life has to offer.

No matter where life takes you, we hope you’ll always remember us, because we know we’ll always remember you. Thank you for being such a wonderful friend and for making our lives brighter just by being part of them.

We love you, Jackson. Wishing you and Con all the best—we'll miss you so much, and we can't wait to hear about all the amazing things ahead for you both. ❤️

"Just remember, no matter where you go, you'll always have a family here waiting for you!"

Jackson departed for Australia today after spending the past four years here in Cambodia. And while he will still be working in a board of directors capacity for Heartprint, we are all going to miss seeing him face to face on a daily basis. The team are struggling, as are the children, but life must go on. Let's all join in wishing Jackson and Con the best of luck for their future.

Over the past few weeks, we've been lucky enough to welcome a wonderful mix of visitors to Cambodia, each playing a different role in our Heartprint journey.

It was wonderful to welcome back our Australian Board Member, Caitlin, and our UK Board Member, Nicola. Their regular visits help them stay connected with our community, our staff, and the families we support, ensuring Heartprint continues to grow in the right direction.

We were also delighted to welcome back Gavin and Kris, Jackson's parents and two of our long-time major supporters. Wanting to share the Heartprint experience with others, they brought along actress Kimberley and her son, Gabe, after recently running a fundraiser for Heartprint.

One thing all of our visitors had in common was a willingness to get involved. Whether it was cleaning storerooms, organising supplies, helping wherever they were needed, or simply asking, "What's next?" they reminded us that no job is too small when you're working towards something bigger.

It was especially meaningful that they were all here for our annual Family Open Day, where they saw firsthand the confidence, talent, and growth of the children and families they support. Seeing that transformation with their own eyes is something no photo or report can truly capture.

To everyone who visits Heartprint, whether you're a board member, donor, volunteer, fundraiser, or supporter, thank you for giving not only your generosity but also your time. We love welcoming people who want to experience Heartprint from the inside, because that's where the real magic happens.

Building skills. Building confidence. Building futures.

This week was a milestone for our Hair & Beauty Training Academy at the Heartprint Hub.

For the first time, we hosted an advanced Hair Aid training course, bringing together six women who have already been developing their skills at Heartprint Hub, along with three members of our wider community who had previously completed Hair Aid's beginner course.

We're so proud to say that every one of these talented women graduated with stronger technical skills, greater confidence, and an even bigger belief in what they can achieve.

At the same time, two more of our Build A Future mums stepped well outside their comfort zones to attend a Hair Aid beginner course at another venue. It meant travelling to an unfamiliar place, learning alongside new people, and embracing a completely new challenge. They did it with courage and determination.

What we love most about this program is the pathway it creates. Women begin with the basics, continue developing their skills at the Heartprint Hub, move into advanced training, and then gain real-world experience in our working salon. Our dream is that today's trainees become tomorrow's trainers, passing their skills on to the next group of women and creating opportunities that continue for years to come.

Throughout the week, there was plenty of learning, encouragement, laughter, and teamwork. Watching the women support one another was just as rewarding as watching their technical skills grow.

These certificates represent so much more than completing a course. They represent confidence, opportunity, independence, and the chance to build a brighter future for themselves and their families.

A heartfelt thank you to the incredible Hair Aid volunteers who continue to share their time, skills, and passion with our community. Together, we're not just teaching hairdressing; we're creating pathways to employment, empowerment, and lasting change.
