🇦🇺 Pheap and Wendy are now safely back in Cambodia after an incredible few weeks across Australia filled with fundraisers, Rotary presentations, learning opportunities, and plenty of unforgettable moments.
After travelling through Sydney, Wagga Wagga, and Melbourne, and along the Great Ocean Road (see prior posts for details), the trip continued to Murray Bridge in South Australia, where we held a Music Bingo fundraiser that raised over $5000 for Heartprint.
In Adelaide, we toured Livit Disability Services, visiting independent living homes, respite facilities, and day programs to learn more about inclusive support and ideas we can bring back to Heartprint. We also spent time with the local Cambodian community at a pagoda where, in one incredibly touching moment, members of the Khmer community donated over $700 to support Heartprint families.
From there it was on to Maitland, where East Maitland Rotary held a fantastic fundraiser raising enough to build a family home in Cambodia 🏠 While there we swam with sharks and manta rays thanks to our generous hosts Sue and Brian and we helped with the local can drive that by recycling cans and bottles the club raises funds Heartprint every year.
We then flew into Brisbane before continuing on to Rotary presentations in Logan and on the Gold Coast, as well as attending the annual Vapiano Charity Lunch, which raised over $9500.
The trip ended with some very special family time - days spent with Wendy’s children and grandchildren, visits to iconic beaches, Dreamworld (where Pheap bravely went on her very first rollercoaster 🎢), and a trip up the Q1.
What a whirlwind trip it has been. We are so incredibly grateful to everyone who hosted us, supported us, donated, volunteered, and helped spread the story of Heartprint. Your kindness and generosity will stay with us for a very long time 💛
