Landmines do not disappear when wars end. They remain in the ground, killing and maiming civilians long after—children walking to school, families travelling by car, or farmers using tractors.

Poland and Finland are now preparing to produce AP mines, and politicians in other European states are suggesting they leave the Mine Ban Treaty.

The ban is still strong but needs active support. The EU should uphold the ban and refuse to fund AP mine production.
