Learning comes to life when students experience the workplace firsthand.

Futures Siem Reap led a field visit for 15 salon trainees to our employment partner, A Horng Beauty Salon. The visit gave students the opportunity to observe a real working environment, connect what they have learned in training with everyday professional practice, and gain a clearer understanding of the skills employers are looking for.

Through conversations with alumni and employers, the trainees also learned how to prepare for the workplace, build professional confidence, and take the next steps toward meaningful employment.

By connecting vocational training with industry partners, we are helping young people develop the practical skills and experience they need to build successful careers and .

Every career journey begins with exploring the possibilities.

We recently led a vocational training (VT) tour for 11 young people from our 3PC NGO partner, Children's Future International (CFI) introducing them to the opportunities that technical and vocational education can offer.

During the visit, participants discovered different vocational training pathways, gained a better understanding of the skills employers are looking for, and learned how practical, industry-relevant training can open doors to employment, self-employment, and entrepreneurship.

By connecting young people with real learning environments and career opportunities, we are helping them make informed choices about their futures and build the skills needed to achieve sustainable livelihoods.

Knowledge is one of the strongest tools we have to keep children safe.

Our team of (Kaliyan Mith team) hosted a community awareness campaign on grooming in Leang Daiy Commune, Angkor Thom District. A total of 201 local authorities, family members, and children participated, engaging actively in discussions and learning how grooming can be used to manipulate and exploit children.

By understanding the warning signs and stages of grooming, communities are better equipped to recognize risks, respond appropriately, and help protect children before harm occurs. Strengthening awareness among children, caregivers, and local authorities is an important step in creating safer environments where every child can grow up protected.

Together, we can prevent abuse through knowledge, vigilance, and collective action.

Preparing young people for the world of work goes beyond the classroom.

We recently conducted a Future Employment Project presentation, organized a workplace tour visit, and celebrated the achievements of 11 university students from our partner, University of South-East Asia (USEA) through a soft skills certificate distribution event.

The activities aimed to increase students’ awareness of future employment opportunities, provide firsthand exposure to real workplace environments, and recognize their commitment to developing essential soft skills that employers value.

By connecting education, workplace experience, and skills development, we help young people build the confidence and knowledge they need to successfully transition into employment and create brighter futures for themselves and their communities.

Protecting children begins with awareness, education, and community action.

We hosted a child protection campaign on the topic of sexual abuse in Sangkat Siem Reap. A total of 283 participants (including local authorities, families, youth, and children), joined the session.

Participants actively engaged in discussions and learning activities, demonstrating a strong interest in understanding the risks of sexual abuse, recognizing warning signs, and learning how communities can work together to keep children safe.

Through campaigns like these, we continue to strengthen community awareness and encourage everyone to play a role in preventing violence against children and creating safer environments where children can thrive.

Strong support starts with strong skills.

Our Futures Siem Reap conducted its annual Basic Soft Skills Refresher Training for 17 staff members from the Saving Lives, ChildSafe Movement and Futures Education teams.

Soft skills are a vital part of social work. Whether building trust with children and families, communicating effectively, solving problems, or working collaboratively, these skills help frontline staff provide better support and create positive outcomes for the communities they serve.

By investing in continuous learning and professional development, we strengthen our ability to protect children, empower young people, and support families more effectively.

Building pathways to employment starts with knowledge, skills, and preparation

We recently organized a Futures Employment Tour for 11 ChildSafe Movement Agents (CSAs) specializing in employment support. The visit provided valuable insights into employment opportunities, workplace expectations, and the services available to help young people access decent work.

The team also took the opportunity to deliver a Financial Literacy session, helping participants strengthen their understanding of budgeting, saving, and managing finances. These are essential skills for long-term financial stability and success.

By equipping CSAs with employment and financial knowledge, we are strengthening their ability to guide and support vulnerable youth towards safe employment, sustainable incomes, and brighter futures.

Skills create opportunities. Opportunities create brighter futures.

On 15 June 2026, the Futures Siem Reap Team participated in TVET Day, held under the theme: β€œTVET Gives Skills, Gives Jobs, and Gives Income.”

The event highlighted the important role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in equipping young people with practical skills that lead to employment, financial independence, and improved livelihoods.

At Kaliyan Mith, we believe that access to education, vocational training, and employment opportunities helps young people build confidence, achieve their goals, and create a better future for themselves and their families.

Together, we are investing in skills that open doors to lasting opportunities. 🀝

Standing in solidarity with our partners at Safe Haven Medical Outreach

We are saddened to hear about the loss of their mobile clinic van and the damage to their outreach vehicle. These vehicles play a vital role in helping Safe Haven reach children with disabilities and complex medical needs in rural communities across Siem Reap.

While we are relieved that no one was injured, the impact on their outreach work will be significant. We encourage our network and community to show their support in any way they can.

When one organization faces challenges, it reminds us of the importance of partnership and collective action in ensuring that children and families continue to receive the support they need.

On Monday night, Safe Haven experienced something we never expected.

Our mobile clinic van caught fire and was completely destroyed. Sadly, the fire also spread to our outreach truck, causing significant damage, and making it currently unsafe to drive.

As an organisation that delivers the majority of our services through outreach, this has had an immediate impact on our ability to reach the children and families who rely on us. Right now, our priority is finding short-term transport solutions so that our teams can continue delivering essential services to children with disabilities and complex medical needs across rural Siem Reap. Tuk tuks and motorbikes can help us reach some families who live closer to town, but many of our children live in remote rural communities where safe and reliable access requires a car or van. If you have any way of helping us with transport, whether through a vehicle loan, rental assistance, sponsorship, or other ideas, please reach out to us on [email protected] or send us a private message on FB.

Our staff are understandably shocked and upset by what has happened, but we are incredibly grateful that no one was injured. While the loss of our vehicles is devastating, the safety of our staff is what matters most.

In the coming weeks, we will be exploring fundraising options and longer-term solutions. Without reliable transport, our outreach work simply cannot happen.

Thank you to everyone who has checked in on us, offered help, and stood beside us during this difficult week. Your support means more than you know. Please see comments for ways to donate.

To contact us about offering assistance please email [email protected] or send us message on FB.
