As part of our Meet the Team series, we’re excited to introduce another dedicated team member who is passionate about creating real change for children with disabilities and their families. Meet Srey - the Team Leader for our Physiotherapists. 💙

What inspired you to join Safe Haven?
The reality that children with disabilities are often neglected due to harmful beliefs—driving a strong desire to create awareness, support, and change.

What do you love the most?
Seeing children improve their functional mobility and quality of life, and watching caregivers gain confidence in supporting their child through daily exercises.

What keeps you motivated?
A simple but powerful moment—a smile on a child’s face.

Skills developed
A deeper understanding that every disability is different, and the importance of continuous learning to provide the best support.

What does success look like?
When my team feels confident, understands their roles, and openly shares strengths and challenges—both with each other and with clients.

អាហារដែលមានសុខភាពល្អគឺមានសារះសំខាន់ចំពោះការលូតលាស់ផ្នែករាងកាយ និងការអភិវឌ្ឍបញ្ញារបស់កុមារ។ រឿងដែលល្អគឺអាហារមានសុខភាពល្អមិនចាំបាច់ថ្លៃទេ។ អាហារធម្មតាដែលមានតុល្យភាពដូចជា បាយ បន្លែ និងផ្លែឈើ ជាច្រើនអាចរកបាននៅក្នុងសហគមន៍ផ្ទាល់ និងអាចបង្កើតការផ្លាស់ប្តូរដ៏មានអត្ថន័យយ៉ាងខ្លាំង។

In this session, our Interventionist is working closely with a child and his father—using play to build connection, strengthen communication, and support the child in following instructions. By involving parents directly, we help create meaningful interactions that continue long after the session ends.

Play isn’t just fun—it’s how children learn, connect, and thrive. And when families are part of that process, the impact is even greater.

A huge thank you to Wheelchairs for Kids Australia for their incredible donation of 64 wheelchairs, now safely in Victoria and preparing to make their journey to us over the coming months!

This shipment also opens up a wonderful opportunity to include additional donated items in the container—helping us expand our impact and better support those in need.

A simple check-up can make a life-changing difference 💙

Children with disabilities are at higher risk of common illnesses like diarrhoea, respiratory infections, and fever—especially those living with multiple disabilities. That’s why our nursing team is so essential.

Here, one of our dedicated nurses carries out a home visit, ensuring this child receives the care, attention, and early support they deserve. Beyond treatment, these visits bring comfort, trust, and reassurance to families who might otherwise go without care.

Health, dignity, and inclusion begin with care like this.

We’re really grateful to be part of this initiative with our friends Ponheary Ly Foundation. 🤝

Our Leadership Team have been joining PLF staff for specialised English lessons designed for NGO work – helping build confidence in communicating with partners, engaging with donors, and professional writing.

Investing in the growth of local staff is something we deeply believe in, and it’s been wonderful to learn together in such a supportive space. Thank you to PLF and to Teacher Anna for making these sessions so engaging and practical!
