Volunteer Building Cambodia - VBC

Volunteer Building Cambodia - VBC Volunteer Building Cambodia is a not-for-profit organisation in Siem Reap. We help the impoverished. We build and repair houses, wells and toilet facilities.

We work with volunteers from around the globe to improve the living conditions of Cambodian families in need by providing them with safe, dry housing. The Cambodian families you will work with are amongst the friendliest people in the world. Volunteering in Cambodia will leave a lasting memory of your visit to South East Asia. We’re funded by donations, some local partners and volunteers who give

up their time to come and build a home with us. You will work alongside other international volunteers, locals and the family receiving the house. Building with us is a unique way to help people in need on the ground. You can make a difference to an entire family.

House #663 blessing day 🎉

After a difficult couple of months this single-mother now has a home of her own once again. Today the VBC team, volunteers, and local community gathered to celebrate the house handover. It was a joyful morning, filled with dancing, food, laughter, and kindness.

Thank you to Peter Gardiner, in memory of Yvonne Kearsey, for donating this house, a water well, and water filter. A special gift, in this family’s time of need. 🏠

Thank you to our volunteers who joined us this week, and the VBC team for working to organise this last minute urgent house build.🩵

What a great achievement for all! 🎉

This week on Wednesday and Thursday, some of our VBC team participated in training based around s*x trafficking, s*xual abuse of children and women, and how to identify the victims.

They got to know more about human tracficking in Cambodia, took part in group discussion, and answer and questions. This training with AIM Organization will strengthen our team, making us more prepared to deal with the sensitive problems regarding women and children in remote areas. We can share these experiences to our community and together we can help prevent the trafficking of children and women.

These sessions were proudly supported by the AGAPE INT'L MISSIONS (aim). Thank you for the valuable training.

Day 4 is complete 🏠

The hard work is done, the finishing touches complete, and the family excited. Tonight will be the last night before they move into their new home, but this is particularly special for this family. As they have actually not had their own home for 6 weeks after it burned to the ground. So after 6 weeks of sharing with the elderly grandmother, they now have a place to call their own, and tomorrow we get to witness this special moment together! ✨

Thanks to our volunteers who joined us this week, and worked harder than ever. 💪

Thank you to Peter Gardiner, for thinking of VBC when honoring your friend who sadly passed. Her legacy will live on for many many years in this home, and that it was provided for this family in their time of greatest need. ❤️‍🩹

🎉Happy International Youth Day 2026 🎉

We are taking this moment to appreciate all the young people who have joined us on project. They really are leading by example, doing their part as a global citizen to help those who need it most. Whether it's a school/university trip, a gap year, internship, or simply a day volunteering with friends, it all plays a vital role in VBC's mission and has a direct impact on rural Cambodian communities. 🌳

In the spirit of this year's theme: Different Contexts, Common Aspirations. No matter where you come from, or what language you speak, you are all young people and sparing your time to help others is one of the strongest things you can do. 💪

You are inspiring! ✨

🏠 Day 3 of Building the House and Rebuilding a Life

Today is the third day of building the house. We are happy to have our volunteers helping with the work, and they are working hard to make up for the fact we have only a small number on the site this week. ❤️

Thank you so much to the donor and supporters for your kindness and generosity. Your help means a lot to us, and to this family’s future. 🙏

🌟 Building Connections, Inspiring Young Hearts! 💙🇰🇭

This evening, our VBC Coordinator Team had a wonderful opportunity to share about the mission and work of Volunteer Building Cambodia (VBC) and VBC Community Centre (VBCCC) with students at Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia, Siem Reap Campus.

We are excited that these students will join us tomorrow to paint the fence at the VBC Community Centre, a project proudly supported by the JJoy Foundation. 🎨🏡

At VBC, we believe that meaningful change starts with engaging and inspiring our local community, especially young people. By working together, we can encourage students to share their time, skills, and love with others—and make a positive difference in their community. ❤️

A big THANK YOU to our wonderful coordinators Meng Hong and David for your hard work, passion, and commitment to bringing people together. 🙏👏

🎨 Tomorrow, we paint!
💙 Together, we build hope.
🤝 Together, we make a difference.

This week is a house build to rebuild a life. 🏠

Many of you will remember Toer Seav, whose house tragically burnt down at the end of June. Well this week we are building her and her son a VBC home, thanks to a previous donor who contacted us last week. In honor of someone who passed away, this house will be built in memory, love, and hope. We are extremely grateful to be trusted with this special project, and it has given this single-mother hope of rebuilding her life. 🥰

It might be quieter on the site this week, but the impact is loud. Thank you to volunteers Stephen and Raf for joining us this week, it is going to be a special one. Stay tuned for updates! 📢

Let’s hear from our team: how would three VBC motorbikes make a difference to the daily operations?🛞

Thanks to everyone who has donated so far, and to Global Transitions Foundation for matching donations on this campaign. Thanks to the support so far we only have $1400 to go, that’s $700 from you guys, and the rest will be matched. ‼️

Help us to reach our goal, and help us to get our field team out in the communities that need us most, safely. 🩵

🚨Urgent Appeal Update 🚨

Sometimes things just fall into place, and that is what happened with our recent 'Urgent Appeal'. Many of you will recognize this single-mother from our video two weeks ago. We are extremely happy to share that this week VBC will begin to rebuild Toer Seav's life, starting with a home. 🏠
Last week a previous donor reached out, asking to fund another home in memory of someone who had passed away. The VBC team worked quickly to match this donor with our Urgent Appeal, and organized everything so the build could begin today! 🔨

Thank you to Peter Gardiner, a long-term VBC supporter, who brought this build in memory of Yvonne Kearsey. 😇

We will be sharing updates all week, so follow along to see hope come to life.
