Dear Friends of Honour Village,

HVC has been busy continuing our journey of education and now has hundreds of children and young people in full or part time education, many who have moved on to further education and has seen over 2000 faces pass through the school since we opened 15 YEARS AGO this year. We continue to employ nearly 30 people and have provided work for hundreds of Cambodians over the 15 years, both directly and indirectly.

The past few years have been difficult the world over, with the rapid cost of living globally and a pandemic to cope with, but we remain here, supporting education and employment for young people in the region. HVC has moved to a slightly smaller scale to align with our funding income, which has dropped in recent years as charities bear the brunt of reductions in donations, but we all remain confident of a bright future for HVC and thank everybody who has contributed historically.

If you are in a position to support with a small regular donation to HVC, or a one off gesture, you will continue to change lives, both in education and training, as well as in gainful employment. We always need support from our donors and this year more than most, but as with every challenge thrown at us, we will continue with the superb work led by Meas and the team on the ground. We want to continue to change and support education for the next 15 years, as we have contributed to for the last 15.

We still regularly post pictures and updates here on our Facebook account, so please do follow us and spread the word.

We thank you all for your ongoing support and donations and for any generous contributions you can spare, please use our JustGiving page in the comments below.

Very best wishes to all from Cambodia.

A last day for our Project Trust volunteers in Honour Village Cambodia! This year, we had four long-term volunteers from Project Trust. We would like to thank Alice, Milly, Poppy and Christie for their time and kindness in helping children in Cambodia. Many many thanks for your hard work and enthusiasm!

We would like to say thank Martin and Project Trust for being such great partners over the years, and for sending volunteers to Honour Village Cambodia, and for looking after them and Honour Village Cambodia. We work as a team to support education in Cambodia.

Are you ready for cute rabbits and even cuter kids?

Our Khmer kindergarten classes made rabbits out of clay the other day here at Honour Village Cambodia. We hope you have a hop in your step after admiring their clay creations!

The Khmer word for rabbit is ទន្សាយ (dtonsai), and yes, there are rabbits or at least hares in the region: the Burmese hare, a member of the family Leporidae, is found in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam.

We had some welcome visitors recently at Honour Village Cambodia!

Chloe volunteered with us for 11 months in 2015 and 2016. She came back to visit us and donated some books. Kirsten volunteered at HVC for 11 months in 2016 and 2017, and came back to visit us with her boyfriend.

Thank you so much, Kirsten and Chloe, for all your hard work with us, and for coming to see the progress we've made!

Our 'Let's Begin!' classes at Honour Village Cambodia had craft time with Teachers Christie and Poppy. It's time to make some octopi!*

*(Nope - while "octopi" is sometimes used, it's considered less common and is grammatically incorrect, as "octopus" is a Greek word, not a Latin word, and therefore follows regular English pluralization rules.

See, we learn something every day at Honour Village!)

UPDATE - sorry for forgetting to add the pictures! We wish we had the brains of an octopus!

Lesson planning is not exactly fun, but it makes for better teaching and a smoother experience in class for everyone! Working together with our staff, our volunteers receive training and share their skills in creating lesson plans. Great work everyone!
