The Dak Dam Highlands, situated in
Modulkiri province the foothills of the Annamite Mountains at elevations of approximately 800–900 metres, are among Cambodia's premier montane birding destinations. The area's evergreen and semi-evergreen forests provide habitat for a remarkable diversity of upland bird species, many of which are scarce or absent elsewhere in the country.

This is one of the best places in Cambodia to search for Orange-breasted Laughingthrush, Germain's Peacock-pheasant, Red-headed Trogon, Indochinese Barbet,Red-vented Barbet, Grey-faced Tit-Babbler, Bar-backed Partridge, Black Eagle, Pin-tailed Green Pigeon, Pale-capped Pigeon, and Mountain Imperial Pigeon. Early mornings along forest roads and quiet trails offer excellent opportunities to observe these species, accompanied by a rich variety of woodpeckers, bulbuls, sunbirds, and other forest birds.

Another rewarding morning of birdwatching near Siem Reap, led by CBGA's expert guides! We were delighted to record 38 bird species, making it a fantastic day in the field. The purpose of this program was to promote bird conservation awareness, environmental education, and appreciation of Cambodia's rich biodiversity. Students from different schools and members of the public attended this educational activity to learn about the importance of protecting birds and their natural habitats.
