When strong winds damage homes in his village each year, Houn Oeurn and his fellow carpenters are the ones who help their neighbours rebuild. A carpentry training course gave them the proper techniques, field practice and the tools to do it well. With support from the Government of the United States, IOM is helping communities in Banteay Meanchey Province repair safer homes from within.

Helping families repair a safer homes. 🏠🤝

With support from the U.S. Government, IOM is helping families in Banteay Meanchey repair their homes and improve their safety.
Of the 161 households receiving shelter repair support:

🔨 105 households needed assistance from carpenters
🏠 67 households have completed their repairs
🛠️ 50 households are working or planning to undertake the repairs themselves

Together with shelter repair kits and skilled carpenters, this support is helping families make their homes safer and regain a greater sense of security.
A repaired roof is more than a repaired house—it can mean a safer night, a more secure home and greater peace of mind for families. ❤️

Strengthening labour migration governance and reintegration for returning Cambodian migrant workers 🇰🇭

IOM Cambodia Chief of Mission Ms. Nellie Ghusayni met with H.E. Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, on 13 August to discuss continued cooperation to support Cambodian migrant workers returning home.

The discussion highlighted the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), skills development, employment and livelihood opportunities as important pathways to support sustainable reintegration.

IOM and the Ministry also discussed technical support for Cambodia’s draft labour migration policy and continued efforts to promote safe migration and prevent forced labour, including in online scam operations.

IOM Cambodia looks forward to continuing its partnership with the Ministry to help returning migrants turn their skills and experience into opportunities at home.
