Since 2015, Wildlife Alliance has empowered women in rural Cambodia by providing scholarships, financial education, sustainable livelihood opportunities, and microcredits to enhance their living standards.
One notable example is Chron Damphawat from Dei Tumneap village, Trapeang Rung commune, who received a scholarship in 2023 through the Southern Cardamom REDD+ Project, specializing in Accounting at Pannasastra University of Cambodia. She achieved the highest Grade A in her English class, earning recognition from H.E. Hun Many, the Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia and Minister of Civil Service.
The Southern Cardamom REDD+ Project is uplifting many rural women and their families, paving the way for a brighter future.

Since 2018, Wildlife Alliance has been empowering Chorng Indigenous women with financial education and microcredits, enabling them to improve their livelihoods. Thanks to this initiative, Mrs. Vorn Nan embarked on a journey to raise chickens, pigs, and grow crops for sale, uplifting her family and enabling them to save.
Many more rural women are benefitting from the Southern Cardamom REDD+ Project.

At the request of the village chief of Pur Boeung (Chhay Reab), Wildlife Alliance transformed lives last year by constructing a bridge through the Southern Cardamom REDD+ Project. This vital connection has empowered villagers to reach Sre Ambel markets and hospitals, even in the heaviest of rains. Following heavy rains, the residents of Prey Prasit village in O Bak Rat commune, Kampong Seila district, especially school children and farmers found themselves stranded at home, unable to navigate the flooded roads.
In response, rangers from Wildlife Alliance's Thmor Roung Station swiftly partnered with local villagers to construct a new bridge. This newly built structure offers families dependable access to schools, hospitals, and farmland, thereby transforming their daily lives with greater safety and ease.

The wild banteng is classified as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List, and populations have decreased by more than 50% in the past few decades. Rampant poaching (for food, game, and horns), habitat loss, fragmentation, and disease proneness are major threats throughout its range.
During a camera trap survey for Bantengs, Wildlife Alliance's Community Conservation Support (CCS) team found an incredible number of Bantengs in these areas. This brings hope of a sustainable population for these critically endangered species. The natural pond creates a soil lick when the water is empty, but our artificial pool provides water throughout the seasons.
