The government of Japan has provided an additional $1.3 million to assist migrants and displaced persons affected by the Cambodia-Thailand border crisis and to build resilience against future emergencies.

The border crisis changed many people’s lives overnight - ongoing support is needed to help communities and vulnerable populations recover.

With the generous support of the Government and people of Japan and in close partnership with the Royal Government of Cambodia, UNFPA Cambodia , IOM Cambodia , UN Women have officially launched a $1.32 Million emergency response project initiative: “Responding to Urgent Needs of Vulnerable Migrants and IDPs affected by Thailand-Cambodia border crisis and Building Resilience Against Future Shocks.”

Over the next 12 months, this partnership will deliver direct, hands-on support to returning migrants and displaced families, with a special focus on protecting women and girls. Here is how the team is delivering practical help on the ground:

UNFPA: Delivering life-saving health and protection services, including 5,000 dignity kits, essential delivery kits for border facilities, and survivor-centered counseling.

IOM: Supporting migrant reintegration and protection through vocational training, job matching, SME support, and human rights-based anti-trafficking assistance.

UN Women: Empowering returning women migrants through leadership in crisis recovery, skills training, and digital safety tools (My Journey & GBV Safe apps) to prevent violence.

By working hand-in-hand with Cambodian Government partners and civil society, this joint effort is helping communities recover today while preparing them to stand strong against future crises.

Inclusion begins when young leaders are given space to learn, discuss and grow.

The Cambodia National Assembly’s Commission on Public Health, Social Work, Veterans, Youth, Rehabilitation, Labor, Vocational Training and Women’s Affairs (the Commission No.8) and the Women Parliamentarian Caucus, in partnership with UN Women, and UNFPA supported by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family of the Republic of Korea and in partnership with other UN agencies, held a Mock Parliament session for 84 young participants from diverse backgrounds.

Through the sessions, young people, including Ms. Anita, shared their ideas on key social issues, including gender equality, and practiced how public decisions are discussed and shaped.

UNFPA will continue working with partners to support young people’s leadership, participation and full potential.

នៅពេលដែលស្ត្រីជាផ្នែកមួយនៃការពិភាក្សារបស់សភា និងការសម្រេចចិត្តជាសាធារណៈ នោះគោលនយោបាយអាចឆ្លុះបញ្ចាំងបានកាន់តែច្បាស់ពីការពិតរបស់ប្រជាជនដែលងាយរងគ្រោះ។ កាលពីចុងខែមេសា រដ្ឋសភានៃប្រទេសកម្ពុជាបានធ្វើជាម្ចាស់ផ្ទះសភាត្រាប់ជាមួយស្ត្រីវ័យក្មេងចំនួន ៨៤ នាក់មកពីទូទាំងប្រទេស។

ដោយមានការគាំទ្រពី UN Women និង UNFPA ព្រឹត្តិការណ៍នេះបានផ្តល់ឱកាសដល់ស្ត្រីវ័យក្មេងក្នុងការកសាងទំនុកចិត្តភាពជាអ្នកដឹកនាំ ពង្រឹងការចូលរួមរបស់ប្រជាពលរដ្ឋ និងចូលរួមដោយផ្ទាល់ជាមួយសមាជិកសភាស្ត្រី និងអ្នកធ្វើសេចក្តីសម្រេចចិត្តថ្នាក់ជាតិ។

When women are part of parliamentary discussions and public decision-making, policies can better reflect the realities of people who are left behind. In late April, Cambodia’s National Assembly hosted a Mock Parliament with 84 young women from across the country.

With support from UN Women and UNFPA, this event gave young women the opportunity to build leadership confidence, strengthen civic participation and engage directly with women parliamentarians and national decision-makers.

នៅថ្ងៃទី ២៨ ខែឧសភា ឆ្នាំ ២០២៦ សក្ខីកម្មដ៏មានអានុភាពចំពោះការប្តេជ្ញាចិត្តថ្នាក់ជាតិ និងថ្នាក់ក្រោមជាតិបានធ្វើឡើងនៅមន្ទីរពេទ្យបង្អែកខេត្តកំពង់ចាម។ ដោយមានការគាំទ្រពីកម្មវិធី ACCESS 2 របស់រដ្ឋាភិបាលអូស្ត្រាលី តាមរយៈមូលនិធិសហប្រជាជាតិសម្រាប់ប្រជាជន UNFPA ក្រសួងកិច្ចការនារី សហការជាមួយរដ្ឋបាលខេត្តកំពង់ចាម បានរៀបចំកម្មវិធីទស្សនកិច្ចសិក្សានៃបន្ទប់ផ្តល់សេវាចម្រុះ (OSSU) ដ៏សំខាន់សម្រាប់អ្នកផ្តល់សេវា។ ដំណើរទស្សនសិក្សានេះបាននាំក្រុមការងារធ្វើការនៅបន្ទប់សេវាចម្រុះ ដែលមកពីខេត្តកំពង់ចាម សៀមរាប កំពង់ស្ពឺ និងខេត្តរតនគិរី ឱ្យជួបជុំគ្នា។ វាបានផ្តល់នូវវេទិកាដ៏មានតម្លៃសម្រាប់ការរៀនសូត្រទៅវិញទៅមក ដែលអនុញ្ញាតឱ្យខេត្តដែលជាម្ចាស់ផ្ទះ និងខេត្តដែលមកចូលរួម ចែករំលែកការយល់ដឹងប្រកបដោយវិជ្ជាជីវៈ ការអនុវត្តល្អបំផុត និងបទពិសោធន៍ជាក់ស្តែងក្នុងប្រតិបត្តិការ OSSU ។

Every GBV survivor deserves safe, respectful, dignified, and coordinated care throughout their healing journey.

On 28 May 2026, a powerful testament to national and sub-national commitment took place at Kampong Cham Provincial Referral Hospital. With support from the Government of Australia’s ACCESS 2 Program through UNFPA, the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, in cooperation with the Provincial Administration of Kampong Cham, hosted a milestone Exchange Visit for One-Stop Service Unit (OSSU) service providers. This exchange visit brought together dedicated OSSU teams from Kampong Cham, Siem Reap, Kampong Speu, and Rattanakiri provinces. It provided a valuable platform for mutual learning, allowing host and participating provinces to share professional insights, best practices, and practical experiences in operating OSSUs.

The OSSU supports GBV survivors in accessing essential GBV services by providing timely medical care, legal aid, and social support in a single unit within healthcare facilities, and all under one roof.

Together, from national ministries to provincial frontline workers, we are strengthening systems to ensure no survivor walks their journey alone.
