The Kouprey Express Mobile Environmental Education Project (KE) of Wildlife Alliance is the only project of its kind in Cambodia. The KE maintains a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport and has worked with over 200,000 students, teachers, and community members around Cambodia. The aim of the KE is to: Empower Cambodia’s youth and communities to make informed decisions regarding the sustainable management of their natural resources; Increase interest, awareness, and understanding of Cambodia’s environmental challenges and laws, and how to protect its natural heritage; Engage rural communities in wildlife protection; and Promote a conservation ethic throughout Cambodia, achieving lasting changes in attitudes and behaviors toward wildlife and habitats. This is achieved through 4 important activities:
• Teacher training to build the capacities of teachers and community educators on wildlife and habitat protection, climate change and adaptation, pollution prevention, and other important environmental issues
• Interactive lessons and activities on wildlife and forest conservation for students
• Field trips to Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Center to meet wild animals rescued from the wildlife trade
• Community Night Shows and other large-scale outreach events
The KE welcomes partnerships and collaborations with schools and NGOs nationwide to raise awareness about protecting Cambodia’s natural heritage. If you would like the KE to visit you, please contact Mr. Ying Horn:
