Kofi Annan, Former United Nations Secretary General The first UN Volunteers arrived in Cambodia in 1991 and UNV opened an office in Cambodia soon after the establishment of the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC)
in 1992. In the course of the following two years, over 700 international UN Volunteers were deployed in support of the electoral process and the massive humanitarian and relief effort and later in technical assistance. During this period over 93 Cambodians served as International UN Volunteers with different UN missions and programmes overseas. Since 2006, UNV has also been supporting national volunteer organizations to deploy local volunteers for grassroots initiatives in some of the poorest rural provinces of the country.
អ្នកស្ម័គ្រចិត្តសហប្រជាជាតិបានមកដល់ប្រទេសកម្ពុជាជាលើកដំបូងក្នុងឆ្នាំ ១៩៩១ ហើយ អង្គការស្ម័គ្រចិត្តសហប្រជាជាតិ បានបើកការិយាល័យក្នុងប្រទេសកម្ពុជា បន្ទាប់ពីការបង្កើតនូវអជ្ញាធរបណ្តោះអាសន្នរបស់សហប្រជាជាតិក្នុងឆ្នាំ១៩៩២។ ក្នុងកំឡុងពេល២ឆ្នាំ មានអ្នកស្ម័គ្រចិត្តអន្តរជាតិ ជាង៧០០នាក់ត្រូវបានដាក់ពង្រាយ ក្នុងបំណងដើម្បីជួយជ្រោមជ្រែងដំណើរការនៃការបោះឆ្នោត និង កិច្ចប្រឹងប្រែងជំនួយសង្គ្រោះមនុស្សធម៌ បន្ទាប់មកផ្តល់ជំនួយអ្នកបច្ចេកទេស។
ចាប់តាំងពីឆ្នាំ១៩៩១ មានអ្នកស្ម័គ្រចិត្តជាង១៤៦៣នាក់បានចូលបំរើការងារស្ទើរគ្រប់ស្ថាប័ន អង្គការសហប្រជាជាតិ, អង្គការក្រៅរដ្ឋាភិបាល និងជាមួយរដា្ឋភិបាល នៅក្នុងប្រទេសកម្ពុជាផងដែរ។ ក្នុងកំឡុងពេលនោះផងដែរ ប្រជាពលរដ្ឋខ្មែរជាង៩៣នាក់ បានចូលរួមបំរើការងារដូចអ្នកស្ម័គ្រចិត្ត អន្តរជាតិជាមួយនឹងបេសកកម្ម និងកម្មវិធីផ្សេងៗរបស់សហប្រជាជាតិ។
ចាប់តាំងពីឆ្នាំ២០០៦ អង្គការស្ម័គ្រចិត្តសហប្រជាជាតិបានផ្តល់ការគាំទ្រដល់អង្គការអ្នកស្ម័គ្រចិត្ត ជាតិដើម្បីដាក់ពង្រាយអ្នកស្ម័គ្រចិត្តសម្រាប់គំនិតផ្តួចផ្តើមថ្នាក់មូលដ្ឋានក្នុងខេត្តក្រីក្រមួយចំនួនក្នុងប្រទេស។
