The Cambodia Mask Project

The Cambodia Mask Project The Cambodia Mask Project is a public art project and fundraising event in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Exhibition opening at The Plantation Hotel in Phnom Penh on May 24, 2012 The Cambodia Mask Project is the 1st of what is expected to be an annual event bringing together both emerging and established Cambodian artists and their international colleagues for a series of art exhibitions in Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh. What makes The Cambodia Mask Project unique is that each artist will be asked to

interpret the same image of a Cambodian face in his or her own artistic vision. The result will be a contemporary exploration of the concepts of identity, role, and history - past, present and future in Cambodian society. There are no other limits or restrictions; each artist has complete freedom to express their ideas, inspirations and individuality. The event will conclude with a series of exhibits in Phnom Penh’s leading art galleries with a final show and auction celebrating the conclusion of the event. All profits will directly benefit the Cambodia artist community by supporting residencies, scholarships, and individual grants.
