Norwegian People's Aid Cambodia Norwegian People's Aid (NPA) Cambodia has been operational since 1992. Currently NPA works in over 30 counties.

NPA is a humanitarian aid organization established in 1939 by the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions. NPA started activities in Cambodia in 1992 providing demining assistance to Cambodia Mine Action Center (CMAC) in order to prepare for resettlement of refugees returning from the border camps in Thailand.

Today, we proudly celebrate 12 trainees from CMAC who have successfully completed the Mine Detection Dog (MDD) Team Leader Training.
On June 4, 2026, NPA had the great honor of having H.E. Heng Ratana, Delegate of the Royal Government and Director General of CMAC, who presided over the closing ceremony and certificate award for all participants.
This training, from 15 May to 5 June, focused on strengthening leadership, accountability, decision-making, quality standards, and the capacity to manage and lead mine detection dogs in challenging operational conditions, where the role of a team leader is critically important.
These graduates represent the next generation of MDD leaders within CMAC, combining newly acquired knowledge with their practical field experience. We are confident that, through their dedication and continued collaboration between CMAC and NPA, the future of mine detection dog operations in Cambodia will grow even stronger.

On 18th May 2026, NPA Cambodia kicked off the Mine Action Detection Dogs 🦮 (MDD) Team Leaders Course at CMAC’s Technical Institute of Mine Action (TIMA) in Kampong Chhnang Province
The course brought together Team Leaders from different Demining Units of CMAC across the country who are managing the MDDs. Participants will strengthen their knowledge, practical skills, leadership, and operational competencies to support safe, efficient, and high-quality humanitarian mine action activities, as well as responsible dog welfare practices 🐕✨
We are looking forward to the success of the training with CMAC and to improving MDD capacity in Cambodia 🤝

On 29–30 April, Norwegian People’s Aid, in partnership with CMAA, conducted a Training of Trainers on Conflict Preparedness and Protection in Battambang Province.
Conflict Preparedness and Protection goes beyond responding after harm occurs; this approach ensures civilians are equipped with the essential knowledge, skills, and tools to protect themselves before, during, and after conflict. Through this course, participants deepened their understanding of key principles, methodologies, and operational guidelines, and explored effective delivery of conflict protection risk education for both adults and children.
Protecting civilians is not only a humanitarian responsibility—it is a matter of human dignity and resilience. When civilians are prepared, informed, and protected, lives are saved, suffering is reduced, and recovery becomes possible.
