នាថ្ងៃទី១៨ ខែសីហា ឆ្នាំ២០២៦ អង្គការលំនៅឋានមនុស្សជាតិកម្ពុជាបានរៀបចំសិក្ខាសាលាពិគ្រោះយោបល់ស្តីពីលំនៅឋានប្រើប្រាស់ប្រព័ន្ធត្រជាក់អកម្ម សម្រាប់គ្រួសារមានប្រាក់ចំណូលទាប និងងាយរងគ្រោះ ។

សិក្ខាសាលានេះប្រព្រឹត្តទៅក្រោមអធិបតីភាព ឯកឧត្តម មាស សុផល អនុរដ្ឋលេខាធិការនៃក្រសួងបរិស្ថាន រួមជាមួយភាគីពាក់ព័ន្ធផ្សេងៗដែលបានចូលរួមចំណែកនូវចំណេះដឹងបច្ចេកទេស និងអនុសាសន៍ដ៏មានតម្លៃ។

🌿☀️ Strengthening Climate-Responsive Housing for All!

On August 18, 2026, Habitat for Humanity Cambodia held a Consultation Workshop on Passive Cooling Housing Guidance for Low-Income and Vulnerable Families.

This workshop was presided over by H.E Meas Sophal, Undersecretary of State, Ministry of Environment, alongside various stakeholders who contributed valuable technical knowledge and practical recommendations.

The workshop aimed to review and validate the draft guidance​ on Passive Cooling Housing for Low-Income and Vulnerable Families, ensuring its technical soundness, practicality, and contextual relevance to Cambodia's unique climate challenges. This guidance is intended to serve as a vital technical reference for Habitat for Humanity Cambodia in designing and implementing housing programs that prioritize safety and comfort for families in a changing climate.

Through collaborative efforts and the exchange of shared expertise, we are advancing solutions that enhance the accessibility of climate-responsive housing for low-income and vulnerable families.

Today, we would like to introduce the PASSA Group in Bak Amrek Village, Prek Loung Commune, Ek Phnom District, Battambang Province, who are working together to address challenges in their community.

In the past, water shortages created many difficulties for community members, especially for farming and daily household use. They had to spend significant amounts of money on fuel and time to pump water from the river. ☀️🍂

With support from Habitat for Humanity Cambodia​ and local authorities, the PASSA Group took the leadership of managing and operating of a solar-powered water pumping system to help provide water for the community.

💧 The water pumping system makes it easier for community members to access water
🌱 Supports farming and farmers’ livelihoods
💰 Reduces the cost of fuel needed for water pumping

This is the power of community participation. When we work together, we can create solutions that bring lasting impacts to the community.

Studying Challenges and Learning from Regional Experience in Housing Finance

On 11 August 2026, Habitat for Humanity Cambodia participated in the Housing Microfinance Forum in Manila, jointly organized by Microfinance Council of the Philippines and Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter of Habitat for Humanity International. During the discussion, a striking commonality that emerged was that low-income families whose income is cash, without formal documentation to prove it, face significant barriers to accessing housing finance. Housing loans continue to make up only a small share of microfinance institutions' credit portfolios. This gap stems not from weak demand or poor repayment performance, but from perceptions of risk that the evidence does not bear when it comes to granting credit.

To overcome this challenge, Habitat for Humanity Cambodia is currently undertaking careful technical studies at both the national and regional levels and has been actively contributing alongside the government and stakeholders to the implementation of social and affordable housing policies, so that everyone will have a decent place to live.

On the morning of August 6, 2026, Habitat for Humanity Cambodia had the honor of co-organizing a dissemination workshop on the "Social Housing and Affordable Housing Development Policy" in Kep Province, in collaboration with the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, the General Department of Public-Private Partnership of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and Kep Provincial Administration.

The workshop was held under the presidency of H.E. Tep Boramin, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, and H.E. Dr. Som Piseth, Governor of Kep Province, and was attended by key stakeholders, with the aim of disseminating and deepening understanding of the content of the Social Housing and Affordable Housing Development Policy at the sub-national level, as well as promoting policy implementation to enhance the supply of social housing, affordable ownership housing, and affordable rental housing.

Habitat for Humanity Cambodia hopes to see similar workshops organized in other provinces in the future to further promote awareness and implementation of the policy, helping more Cambodian families access adequate and affordable housing.
