http://vacambodia.org/ The VAC program invites volunteers from all over the world to work with Cambodian non-governmental organizations in order to provide a meaningful work experience and foster an exchange of cultural ideas. VAC is designed primarily for college students and recent graduates interested in volunteering. VAC helps its volunteers find a suitable organization and accommodation, organizes regular cultural events and provides general assistance to the volunteers during their stay. The length of stay depends on a volunteer’s interests, but is usually between one and three months. A minimum stay of one month is highly recommended in order for the volunteers to develop a strong relationship with the organization with which they work. VAC works with 55 partner organizations of Star Kampuchea in Cambodia. These organizations mostly consist of international NGOs, local NGOs and orphanages. Depending on a volunteer’s interests, placements are possible in many different fields. Advocacy training, HIV/AIDS, health, rural development, human rights protection, legal rights work, media, and environmental issues are all possibilities.

What happens when you step out of your comfort zone and into a busy community center in Phnom Penh?
For Marie Faure, a volunteer who spent 5 weeks with us, the journey started with an intense first few days—but ended with lifelong memories, cross-cultural growth, and a class full of children learning a new song on the guitar! 🎸❤️

🧠 You didn't spend years studying childhood development, creative literacy frameworks, or multi-sensory teaching tools just to be a temporary distraction in a classroom.

There is a major flaw in traditional volunteer teaching: well-meaning professionals take hard-earned sabbaticals to teach children abroad and chaotic classroom environments.

At Volunteer Action for Cambodia (VAC), we integrate your professional teaching and nurturing talents into registered, structured local operations across Phnom Penh:

Because sustainable child development requires your complete focus, we handle the operational complexities for you. Your program fees directly fund the local project infrastructure, classroom resource logistics, and your accommodation at the Star Volunteer House in central Phnom Penh. Featuring 24/7 security oversight, high-speed Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and full catering,

Let’s build a lasting educational legacy. True impact isn't a vacation activity—it's a structured, compliant transfer of knowledge.

👇 TEACHERS & SOCIAL WORKERS, LET'S DISCUSS:

When managing a foundational language classroom, do you find that multi-sensory visual assets or interactive, game-based storytelling works best for maintaining high engagement with primary-age children?
