Success doesn’t always mean reaching Grade 12 and completing education.
At Care for Cambodia, our goal is to help every child go as far as is realistically possible — taking into account their abilities, circumstances and, importantly, their family’s financial situation.
For some of the children we work with, continuing all the way through high school simply isn’t financially possible. That doesn’t mean their story has to end there.
Sopheap is a wonderful example. He studied at our Children’s Club from Grade 5 through Grade 9, but in 2022 his family’s financial situation meant he could no longer continue his education. Instead, he followed his interest in electrical work, learned a trade, and is now working as an electrician and helping to support his family.
That is success too.
We want our children to have the opportunity to learn, develop skills, discover what they are good at, and build the best future that is realistically possible for them and their families.
We’re incredibly encouraged to see stories like Sopheap’s — children who may not have followed the traditional path all the way to Grade 12, but who have gone on to learn a skill, find meaningful work and contribute to their families and communities.
Many don’t forget the help that CFC provided and they still remain in contact with the local project.
