ប្រធានគ្រប់គ្រងផ្នែកជីវៈចម្រុះ និងវិទ្យាសាស្ត្រ នៃអង្គការអភិរក្សអន្តរជាតិកម្ពុជា (អង្គការCI) លោកបណ្ឌិត សោ រដ្ឋា បានធ្វើបទបង្ហាញអំពីជីវៈចម្រុះ ដែលមានវត្តមានរស់នៅក្នុងតំបន់ទេសភាពអភិរក្សដីគោក គាំទ្រដោយអង្គការCI ដែលមានដូចជា តំបន់ទេសភាពជួរភ្នំក្រវាញកណ្ដាល ដែនជម្រកសត្វព្រៃព្រៃឡង់ និងឧទ្យានជាតិវើនសៃ–សៀមប៉ាង។ បទបង្ហាញនេះបានរំលេចពីសារៈសំខាន់ផ្នែកអេកូឡូស៊ី តម្លៃជីវៈចម្រុះ និងសារៈសំខាន់ផ្នែកអភិរក្សនៃតំបន់ទេសភាពអាទិភាពទាំងនេះ។

លោកក៏បានធ្វើបទបង្ហាញពីលទ្ធផលនៃការសិក្សាមួយទៀតផងដែរ ក្រោមចំណងជើង « អត្ថប្រយោជន៍នៃការអភិរក្សរបស់គម្រោងរេដបូកនៅក្នុងតំបន់ការពារព្រៃត្រូពិចសម្រាប់សហគមន៍សត្វស្លាប» ។ តាមរយៈការសិក្សានេះ ការអនុវត្តគម្រោងរេដបូកមានផលជាវិជ្ជមានលើនានាភាពនៃប្រភេទសត្វស្លាប និងការអភិរក្សព្រៃឈើនៅក្នុងតំបន់នេះ។ បទបង្ហាញទាំងពីរនេះត្រូវបានធ្វើឡើងក្នុងសិក្ខាសាលាអន្តរជាតិមួយស្ដីអំពី «ការស្រាវជ្រាវនិងអប់រំអំពីព្រៃឈើ» ដែលរៀបចំដោយសាកលវិទ្យាល័យភូមិន្ទកសិកម្ម និងមានអ្នកចូលរួមសរុបចំនួន ១៤០នាក់ រួមមាន សាស្ត្រាចារ្យ អ្នកស្រាវជ្រាវ គ្រូបង្រៀនថ្នាក់ឧត្តមសិក្សា និងនិស្សិតមកពីសាកលវិទ្យាល័យ និងស្ថាប័នស្រាវជ្រាវជាតិ និងអន្តរជាតិ។

ព្រឹត្តិការណ៍នេះជាវេទិកាដ៏មានតម្លៃសម្រាប់ការចែករំលែកចំណេះដឹង ការផ្លាស់ប្តូរបទពិសោធន៍ផ្នែកវិទ្យាសាស្ត្រ និងការពិភាក្សាអំពីការអភិរក្សជីវៈចម្រុះ អេកូឡូស៊ីព្រៃឈើ ការស្តារឡើងវិញ និងការគ្រប់គ្រងទេសភាពប្រកបដោយចីរភាពនៅប្រទេសកម្ពុជា។

Biodiversity and Science Manager at Conservation International Cambodia (CI Cambodia), Dr. Ratha Sor, presented the biodiversity profiles of CI-supported terrestrial conservation landscapes, including the Central Cardamom Mountains Landscape, Prey Lang Wildlife Sanctuary, and Veun Sai-Siem Pang National Park. The presentation highlighted the ecological importance, biodiversity values, and conservation significance of these priority landscapes.

Dr. Ratha Sor also presented the study entitled “Bird Community Composition Reveals Conservation Benefits of REDD+ in a Tropical Forest Protected Area,” which demonstrated the positive impacts of REDD+ interventions on bird diversity and forest conservation outcomes. The presentations were delivered at an International Symposium on “Forest Research and Education” hosted by the Royal University of Agriculture, attended by a total of 140 participants, including professors, researchers, lecturers, and students from local and international universities and research institutions.

The event provided a valuable platform for knowledge sharing, scientific exchange, and discussion on biodiversity conservation, forest ecology, restoration, and sustainable landscape management in Cambodia.

Conservation International Cambodia (CI Cambodia) organized commune-level dissemination meetings for local communities and relevant stakeholders on the Central Cardamom REDD+ Project in Cardamom National Park, in Koh Kong, Kampong Speu, and Pursat provinces, from 31 August to 4 September 2026. The meetings aimed to share information on the project’s key elements and major plans, as well as to discuss arrangements for meetings in the target villages in preparation for the forthcoming project validation and verification process by an independent third party. A total of 196 participants (82 women,103 Indigenous People) learned about the project’s key documents, including the Project Design Document, Community Impact Monitoring Plan, Safeguards Plan, Biodiversity Monitoring Plan, Grievance Redress Mechanism, Benefit-Sharing Mechanism, and the validation and verification process. Participants also shared feedback and provided additional input on the relevant plans to ensure clarity, inclusiveness, and responsiveness to the practical needs of local communities. This initiative demonstrates the importance of strengthening the participation of communities and relevant stakeholders to help ensure that the project is implemented transparently, accountably, and sustainably, contributing to the long-term conservation of natural resources, protection of biodiversity, and long-term improvement of local livelihoods.

Critically Endangered and Vital for Our Environment! Vultures are nature’s clean-up crew in the ecosystem. In Cambodia, there are three species of vultures: the red-headed vulture, the slender-billed vulture, and the white-rumped vulture.As scavengers, they play a vital role in maintaining healthy ecosystems by consuming animal carcasses, helping keep the environment clean, preventing the spread of disease, and maintaining the balance of biodiversity. Despite their critical ecological role, vultures are facing increasing threats from poisoning, habitat loss, declining food sources, and human disturbance. As vulture populations continue to decline, ecosystems become more vulnerable. On this International Vulture Awareness Day, let us come together to protect vultures. We can make a difference by raising awareness, preventing wildlife poisoning, safeguarding forests and habitats, and supporting conservation efforts that ensure vultures can continue to thrive in the wild.

Conservation International Cambodia (CI Cambodia) organized a training and awareness-raising workshop on key documents of the Central Cardamom Mountains REDD+ (CC REDD+) Project in Cardamom Mountains National Park at the Pursat Provincial Department of Environment from 25 to 27 August 2026. The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of environmental officials and park rangers by enhancing their understanding of the concepts and mechanisms of the CC REDD+ project, while also disseminating key project documents and fostering stronger collaboration in the implementation of activities related to the management, protection, and conservation of natural resources in an effective and sustainable manner.

A total of 27 participants (3women) from the Provincial Department of Environment and ranger stations attended the training. Participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the CC REDD+ Project, reviewed key project documents in detail, and learned about the validation and verification processes, which are critical steps for the project's future implementation. This training highlights the importance of capacity building and coordination among key stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of the Central Cardamom REDD+ Project. Such efforts contribute to reducing forest loss, conserving biodiversity, and enhancing long-term benefits for local communities.

អង្គការអភិរក្សអន្តរជាតិកម្ពុជា (អង្គការCI) បានប្រមូលម៉ាស៊ីនថតដោយស្វ័យប្រវត្តិ នៅឧទ្យានជាតិរើនសៃ-សៀមប៉ាង ក្នុងខេត្តស្ទឹងត្រែង និងរតនគិរី ដែលជាផ្នែកមួយនៃកិច្ចខិតខំប្រឹងប្រែងតាមដានជីវៈចម្រុះ។ ម៉ាស៊ីនថតដោយស្វ័យប្រវត្តិទាំងនេះត្រូវបានដំឡើងតាំងពីខែមករា ឆ្នាំ២០២៦មក នៅទីតាំងសំខាន់ៗ ដើម្បីតាមដានវត្តមាន របាយ ឥរិយាបថ និងការប្រើប្រាស់ទីជម្រករបស់សត្វព្រៃ ព្រមទាំងវាយតម្លៃប្រសិទ្ធភាពនៃការគ្រប់គ្រងការងារអភិរក្ស។ រូបភាពនៃវត្តមានសត្វព្រៃអាចផ្តល់នូវព័ត៌មានដ៏មានសារសំខាន់អំពីស្ថានភាពប្រជាសាស្ត្រសត្វព្រៃក្នុងតំបន់ និងគាំទ្រដល់ការរៀបចំផែនការអភិរក្សដោយផ្អែកលើភស្តុតាងជាក់ស្តែង។ ទន្ទឹមនឹងនេះ វាក៏បង្ហាញពីសារៈសំខាន់នៃការតាមដានជីវៈចម្រុះរយៈពេលវែង ក្នុងការការពារបេតិកភណ្ឌធម្មជាតិរបស់កម្ពុជា និងធានាថាវិធានការអភិរក្សត្រូវបានអនុវត្តដោយផ្អែកលើទិន្នន័យវិទ្យាសាស្ត្រដែលអាចទុកចិត្តបាន។

Conservation International Cambodia (CI Cambodia) recently retrieved camera traps from Veun Sai-Siem Pang National Park in Stung Treng and Ratanakiri provinces as part of ongoing biodiversity monitoring efforts. Installed since January 2026 at strategic locations, the cameras help monitor wildlife presence, distribution, behavior, and habitat use, while also assessing the effectiveness of conservation management. The camera traps captured important records of several threatened and significant species, providing valuable insights into local wildlife populations and supporting evidence-based conservation planning. These records also highlight the importance of long-term biodiversity monitoring in protecting Cambodia’s natural heritage and guiding effective conservation action.

This biodiversity monitoring activity was partially supported through the “Improving Conservation of Veun Sai-Siem Pang National Park Through Community-Based Ecotourism” project, supported by TUI Care Foundation through IUCN Save Our Species and implemented by Conservation International Cambodia (CI Cambodia).

Conservation International Cambodia (CI Cambodia) organized village-level consultation meetings in 34 target villages on the establishment of Village REDD+ Groups (VRGs) across target villages under the Prey Lang REDD+ Project in Kampong Thom, Kratie, Stung Treng, and Preah Vihear provinces. The meetings aimed to select VRG members and define their roles in supporting coordination for the project’s benefit-sharing mechanism. The consultations were held from 10 to 21 August 2026, with a total of 2,787 participants (1,836 women, 1,358 Indigenous Peoples). Participants included local authorities, Village REDD+ Groups, and local communities, learned about the eligibility criteria for selecting VRG members, took part in the election process, and discussed the roles, responsibilities, and follow-up action plans to be implemented in each target village. In addition, participants reviewed the grievance redress mechanism, as well as the financial management process for the future Village REDD+ Fund. This process demonstrates the project’s strong commitment to inclusiveness, transparency, equitable benefit-sharing, and an important step toward strengthening the role of local communities in forest protection, sustainable natural resource management, and the long-term implementation of the Prey Lang REDD+ Project.

Conservation International Cambodia is pleased to share a new report: “Conserving and Restoring Cambodia’s Coastal Blue Carbon Habitats: Policy & Finance Analysis and Stakeholder Mapping.”

Cambodia’s mangroves, seagrass beds and other coastal ecosystems play an important role in supporting biodiversity, local livelihoods, climate resilience and carbon storage. Protecting these ecosystems requires not only strong science, but also supportive policies, sustainable financing and collaboration among different stakeholders.

This report examines Cambodia’s policy and legal frameworks, key stakeholders, and opportunities for carbon and non-carbon financing, while identifying gaps and recommendations to strengthen the conservation and restoration of coastal blue carbon ecosystems.
The findings provide an important baseline to help inform the development of Cambodia’s National Blue Carbon Roadmap and support stronger coordination and investment in the country’s coastal ecosystems.

A bit playful, but truly priceless! 🐒 ✨ Primates are recognized as vital species that help regenerate forests and maintain the balance of ecosystems.🌱 In Cambodia, primates include macaques, langurs, and gibbons, which are found across many parts of the country, including the Central Cardamom Mountains Landscape, Prey Lang Wildlife Sanctuary, the Tonle Sap region, and Veun Sai–Siem Pang National Park. They inhabit diverse forest types ranging from lowland forest to highland forest areas. Because of their physical and behavioral similarities to humans, primates are facing serious threats. On the occasion of International Primate Day, let’s join together to protect primates and other wildlife so they can continue to thrive for future generations! 🌳 🌿
