【8/7 kick-off meeting to scale up Community-Led Monitoring (CLM)】
On 7 August 2026, HIV stakeholders, led by the Association of People Living with HIV in Laos (APL+), convened at Lao Plaza Hotel for the kick-off meeting to scale up Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) among female s*x workers (FSW) and men who have s*x with men (MSM) in Vientiane Capital, strengthening the HIV prevention response in Lao PDR.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Bouathong simanovong, Director of the Center for HIV/AIDS and STI (CHAS). This activity is supported by the Global Fund through UNAIDS.

Cambodia's recent achievement of achieving the 95-95-95 HIV-related targets demonstrates what determined national leadership and community partnership can accomplish, said Eamonn Murphy, UNAIDS Regional Director for Asia Pacific, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. 👉Cambodia is the first and only country in Asia Pacific region so far to do so👈.

UNAIDS latest report 2026 released two weeks ago states that by 2025, there were 14 countries worldwide that had achieved 95-95-95 HIV goals: Botswana, Cambodia, Denmark, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

🇰🇭🇫🇷 Behind this achievement lie more than twenty years of political commitment, an exceptional mobilisation of organisations and communities, and the support of international partners, including L'Initiative – Expertise France, which supports the country in strengthening its health system and improving access to prevention and care services for the most vulnerable populations.
L'Initiative is proud to have contributed to this momentum.
In 2025 alone in Cambodia, its projects have made it possible to:

🏥 strengthen 235 health facilities,
🎯 reach 20,000 people benefiting from health services.
