On 24–25 August 2026, Caritas Cambodia, in partnership with the Battambang Prefecture and in collaboration with the National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM), organized a two-day Community-Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) training in Battambang Province.
The training brought together approximately 40 church leaders, parish committee members, youth and women representatives, community volunteers, Caritas Cambodia staff, and Commune Committee for Disaster Management (CCDM) representatives from Kampong Thom, Kampong Chhnang, Pursat, Battambong and Banteay Meanchey provinces to strengthen knowledge and practical skills in disaster preparedness and develop emergency response.
Through participatory learning, group discussions, hazard and resource mapping, and practical planning exercises, participants explored disaster risk reduction, early warning systems, emergency communication, contingency planning, and community disaster preparedness and response planning.
The training also strengthened coordination among the Battambang Diocese, Caritas Cambodia, local authorities, and disaster management institutions, while supporting communities to develop practical contingency and action plans for future emergencies.
Together, we continue building resilient, prepared, and community-led responses so that communities are better equipped before, during, and after disasters.
