Our Story
Cambodia joined the global Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) movement in July 2014, demonstrating the commitment of the Royal Government of Cambodia to end hunger and malnutrition in all its forms and to ensure that each Cambodian has the right to good nutrition with no one left behind. SUN CSA Cambodia was established not long after, in June 2015, to be the voice of civil society for nutrition working in the country. Comprising of both national and international organizations working in various fields, SUN CSA Cambodia works closely alongside the government, especially the Council for Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD), to support the implementation of national nutrition pland and the integration of nutrition across sectors.
As of June 2019, SUN CSA Cambodia consists of 4 local and international non-governmental organization (NGO) members united in the vision to create an effective, strong, vibrant and well-coordinated CSA that promotes sustainable improvement in the nutritional status of the Cambodian people, so that they will be resilient to shock and stress over time and are supported through the development and wider implementations of direct impact nutrition interventions. Each member actively supports national plans for improving nutrition and provides a valuable link to the communities directly affected by malnutrition.
The current Executive Committee for the term July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2019 was appointed in a fair and transparent election, whereby Helen Keller International was appointed Chair and Save Vulnerable Cambodians as the Co-Chair, and World Vision International, Plan International, and Save the Children as its committee members.
We aim to create an effective, strong, vibrant and well-coordinated Civil Society Alliance that promotes sustainable improvement in the nutritional status of the Cambodian people, so that will be resilient to shock and stress over time and are supported through the development and wider implementations of direct impact nutrition interventions.
