In Siem Reap’s flooded forests, 10,500 seedlings are taking root this year on 8.5 hectares in the Mukh Pen, Sasor Sdam, Keo Por, and Kampong Klaing communes. Thanks to 634 volunteers, our partner LIVE & LEARN CAMBODIA and local authorities including Reap Provincial Administration, Provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fishery, local authorities and Community Fishery Committees.

This initiative is an on-going effort as part of the project funded by the Government of Ireland to help communities adapt to rising heat, flooding and restoring ecosystems.

Youth are leading the way in climate action and clean energy. Oxfam has supported youth-led initiatives for many years. Building on this legacy, we brought together ASEAN Youth Organization - Cambodia, Mekong Resilience, and Cambodia Energy Transition Youth Network - CETYN for a reflection workshop to reconnect, share lessons, and co-design a 2026–2027 youth-led workplan. Inspiring feedback showed the power of collaboration aligning goals, exchanging ideas, and shaping new initiatives.

This workshop reflects Oxfam’s ongoing commitment to empower young people as drivers of change. Stay tuned for exciting youth-led activities ahead!

Oxfam supported the launch of the Cambodia Energy Transition Youth Network - CETYN, a youth-led platform empowering students and young professionals to drive Cambodia’s clean energy future. Through the Clean Energy Program, 16 ambassadors received training, mentorship, and showcased innovative solutions at the National Clean Energy Youth Forum on June 27, 2026. With over 80 participants, the event connected youth, academia, and industry leaders, proving that young people are leading the way toward a just energy transition.

Oxfam is proud to support the Ministry of Mines and Energy Cambodia’s Gender Working Group to organize a workshop to promote gender-equitable leadership in clean energy and climate response followed by a field visit to a community forest using a solar mini-grid for conservation.

Over 80 participants from the Ministry, CSOs, communities, students, and youth explored the impacts of climate change on gender, the current state of Cambodia’s clean energy sector, and the fundamentals of gender equality. The dialogue plays a crucial role in ensuring that the energy transition is inclusive and leaves no one behind.

H.E. Chhorda Pen , Secretary of State, highlighted Oxfam’s vital role in fostering knowledge exchange and dialogue on Women and Leadership in the Context of Climate Change through Clean Energy, contributing to gender equality, green growth, and sustainable development.

The workshop was warmly welcomed by H.E. Dy Rado , Deputy Governor of Siem Reap, who expressed hope for similar initiatives to further promote women’s leadership in the energy sector and strengthen local economies.

Oxfam and the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MoLVT) signed a three‑year MoU to advance decent work, social protection, and women’s economic empowerment in Cambodia.

This milestone partnership will strengthen labour systems, expand social protection coverage, and ensure that vulnerable groups especially women, youth, and informal economy workers are not left behind in Cambodia’s development journey.

Sophoan Phean, Oxfam National Director said, “This partnership represents a shared commitment to promoting social protection, labor rights, and gender equality, and collectively we are moving toward building a more resilient and inclusive economy in Cambodia.”

H.E. Sour Heng, Minister of the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, highlighted the strong cooperation between the Ministry and Oxfam and expressed full support for the MoU describing it as a foundation for deeper dialogue and mutual cooperation. He outlined strategies to help transition informal economy workers into formal systems so they can access benefits such as occupational risk coverage, healthcare, and pensions.
