Wellspring Initiative Cambodia Their children to receive a quality education, bringing God's love, hope, and transformation. In 2013 Lynn Johnston felt God's call to serve in Cambodia.

We support and mentor women from disadvantaged communities and their families, equipping them with the skills and opportunities to build sustainable businesses. After two years living and working in the capital, Phnom Penh, she befriended a community of children who were begging at the traffic lights with their parents. This ‘invisible’ community all live on the streets. Their only source of income was from begging and collecting and selling recyclables. Their children were at high risk of being trafficked or exploited. Moved by what she saw Lynn trained and continues to mentor a team of Cambodians who have gone into this community and built strong and genuine relationships with these homeless families. Together, Lynn and these Cambodians are the Wellspring Initiative, supporting families living in poverty by:

Providing food and basic housing needs to get families off the streets
Sponsoring Children to go to School
Funding micro businesses

🌿Wellspring Education Project

Part of helping women grow and build a sustainable future is knowing that their children are also being given the opportunity to learn, grow, and reach their potential.

That’s why we started the Wellspring Education Project — to help provide the children of the women we support with access to a good education and the opportunity to build a brighter future.

We believe that when we invest in a mother, we can impact an entire family — and when we invest in her children, we can help create change for the next generation.

We had a wonderful time at the recent Innovation Hub, where members of the Women's Collective had the opportunity to learn about empathetic customer service, developing and delivering business pitches, using AI in marketing, and understanding different leadership styles.

The Canadian trainers, Eric McRae and Sheri Gagnon, were outstanding, and we all gained valuable knowledge and practical insights that will help us grow both personally and professionally.

A special thank you to KC McLean Free World Canada for organising this event and investing in the small business community in Phnom Penh. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn, connect, and be inspired alongside other entrepreneurs. ❤️

We are excited to share that we recently received a generous donation of $1,000 towards our new Women's Collective.

So, what is the Women's Collective?

The Women's Collective is a group of skilled women who already have talents and practical skills but need support to take their businesses to the next level. Through the Collective, women receive business mentoring, advanced skills training, encouragement, and practical guidance to help them develop sustainable businesses and increase their income.

Our goal is to empower women to build strong businesses that can support their families, create greater financial stability, and bring lasting change to their communities.

We are grateful for this donation and the opportunities it will create as we continue to invest in these remarkable women and their futures. ❤️

We are excited to share that we are transitioning our community work to focus on supporting women and families in vulnerable situations.

We believe there is an opportunity to make an even greater impact by helping women receive training, mentoring, and ongoing support to develop their own sustainable businesses. We will also be providing educational sponsorships to help their children receive a quality education and create brighter opportunities for the future.

A big thank you to the talented Jane (pictured on the left) for partnering with us to upskill two of the young women she supports in jewelry making.

These girls are now also learning sewing at Morijana, equipping them with the skills to start their own microbusinesses from home—an exciting step toward independence and creativity.

We are thrilled to begin our partnership with Morijana Ethical Clothing in launching our Micro Business initiative! This collaboration is an incredible opportunity to empower Cambodian women by providing them with the resources they need to succeed. Through this partnership, women will receive valuable mentorship, participate in brainstorming sessions, and gain essential business training, including workshops designed to equip them with the skills they need to grow their own businesses.

Our goal is to help these women realize their dreams, fostering not just financial independence, but also a sense of pride and accomplishment as they build sustainable businesses. We're excited to see how this initiative will impact lives and create lasting change in the community.
