Wellspring Initiative Cambodia

Wellspring Initiative Cambodia We work with children and their families in poor communities to bring God's love and transformation In 2013 Lynn Johnston felt God's call to serve in Cambodia.

After two years living and working in the capital, Phnom Penh, she befriended a community of children who were begging at the traffic lights with their parents. This ‘invisible’ community all live on the streets. Their only source of income was from begging and collecting and selling recyclables. Their children were at high risk of being trafficked or exploited. Moved by what she saw Lynn trained

and continues to mentor a team of Cambodians who have gone into this community and built strong and genuine relationships with these homeless families. Together, Lynn and these Cambodians are the Wellspring Initiative, supporting families living in poverty by:

Providing food and basic housing needs to get families off the streets
Sponsoring Children to go to School
Funding micro businesses

The Wellspring initiative needs your support to continue working in Cambodia. Please send us a message to become involved or email us at [email protected]

A big thank you to the talented Jane (pictured on the left) for partnering with us to upskill two of the young women she supports in jewelry making.

These girls are now also learning sewing at Morijana, equipping them with the skills to start their own microbusinesses from home—an exciting step toward independence and creativity.

And a special shoutout to lovely Mary, who never fails to show up with endless encouragement and love.

This photo captures a moment from our jewelry training held in the courtyard—a beautiful space for growth, learning, and connection.

We are thrilled to begin our partnership with Morijana Ethical Clothing in launching our Micro Business initiative! This collaboration is an incredible opportunity to empower Cambodian women by providing them with the resources they need to succeed. Through this partnership, women will receive valuable mentorship, participate in brainstorming sessions, and gain essential business training, including workshops designed to equip them with the skills they need to grow their own businesses.

Our goal is to help these women realize their dreams, fostering not just financial independence, but also a sense of pride and accomplishment as they build sustainable businesses. We're excited to see how this initiative will impact lives and create lasting change in the community.

Our sewing Initiative has started and off to a great start with 10 women joining us 🌼🌼🌼 Some of these women have lost their jobs and are retraining in what they have always dreamt of doing, for others this is the first time they have been to a skills training class. It is so exciting to see them all learning together from our talented teacher Sinet 👏

We are really excited to start to interview for our Women's sewing Initiative .This is a skills based program to train women in all aspects of sewing so they can eventually own their own micro business and work from home.
We are running the first one as a pilot program with 5 women participating . Our communities are finding it very difficult to make money from recycling at the moment and do not have any other skills to move into other employment. To come into this program will give them skills and training to have a better life.

A huge thanks to Jenny Knight from Reech who has supported us over the years by donating sewing machines, sewing kits, fabric, overlockers ect that will make this women's initiative possible
We cant do this without the support of others ❤️❤️❤️

As our communities are suffering hardship at the moment we are excited to employ Srey Thy at our Ethical brand Morijana . We know she has been working so hard recycling but for little money . Getting a wage means that we are not just supporting her but her whole family to buy food 👏🏼 👏🏼
