សួនបន្លែសាលារៀនបានក្លាយជាស្ពានភ្ជាប់ទំនាក់ទំនងកាន់តែរឹងមាំរវាងសាលារៀន និងសហគមន៍។ តាមរយៈការដាំដុះ ថែទាំ និងប្រមូលផលបន្លែ សិស្សានុសិស្សបានអនុវត្តចំណេះដឹងជាក់ស្តែងតាមរយៈការរៀនសូត្រដោយផ្ទាល់ ព្រមទាំងចូលរួមចែករំលែក និងលក់បន្លែស្រស់ៗជូនសហគមន៍ ដើម្បីបង្កើតចំណូលបន្ថែមសម្រាប់គាំទ្រសកម្មភាពអប់រំ និងការអភិវឌ្ឍនៅក្នុងសាលារៀន។

Strengthening School–Community Connections Through School Vegetable Gardens 🤝🌱
The school vegetable garden has become a bridge that strengthens connections between schools and their communities. Through planting, caring for, and harvesting vegetables, students gain valuable hands-on learning experiences while applying their knowledge in a practical way.

Students also share and sell fresh vegetables grown at school to community members. The income generated helps support additional school activities and resources, creating a cycle of learning and development.
The sale of school-grown vegetables not only provides meaningful educational opportunities for students but also encourages community engagement and raises awareness about the importance of safe, nutritious, and healthy food choices.
Together, we are building healthier, stronger, more resilient, and more sustainable schools and communities.

Each evening, school directors and librarians worked collaboratively as a team to develop reports reflecting on their learnings and experiences gained during the visits.
Their presentations covered a diverse array of topics, including strategies for promoting reading and cultivating a strong reading culture, effective management and operation of library environments, designing engaging user experiences, integrating various themes to support teaching and learning, and innovative approaches to encouraging reading.
Each group demonstrated a strong commitment to applying their newfound knowledge and implementing effective strategies. They highlighted the importance of fostering community engagement and lifelong learning. This process has broadened their perspectives, sparked innovation, and inspired ongoing efforts to enhance library services, promote reading habits, and strengthen community involvement in Cambodia.

Following the Japan Study Tour 2026, several target schools have begun introducing simple yet meaningful practices inspired by what they learned in Japan. These include removing shoes before entering classrooms and improving canteen waste management by creating designated areas for returning plates and sorting waste.
Although small, these changes contribute to a cleaner and healthier learning environment while encouraging students to develop responsibility, discipline, and active participation in school life.
The experience demonstrates that positive change does not always require large investments sometimes, simple actions and good habits can make a meaningful difference.
Together, we are fostering a culture of cleanliness, responsibility, and care, one step at a time, toward healthier and more sustainable school communities.

"Capacity Building for School Library Development: Study and Training Visit to Singapore"

Through the continued partnership between the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS), KIZUNA Education Support Organization, The Nippon Foundation, and the National University of Singapore (NUS) Libraries, school principals and librarians from Koh Kong Province participated in a Study and Experiential Exchange Visit at NUS Libraries in Singapore from 27–31 May 2026. The visit was a follow-up from NUS Libraries’ Transforming University Library Leadership and Innovation Programme (TULLIP) for librarians, educators, curators and beyond.

During the visit, participants explored leading educational and library institutions, including the National University of Singapore (NUS) Libraries, the National Library Board (NLB), and the Hwa Chong Institution Library. These visits provided valuable opportunities to learn how libraries can serve as dynamic learning hubs that foster creativity, independent learning, digital literacy, and lifelong learning.

One of the key lessons learned was that modern libraries are no longer simply places for storing books. Instead, they function as welcoming and inspiring learning spaces where students can collaborate, conduct research, access digital resources, and develop critical thinking skills.

Participants also gained insights into how strong collaboration between teachers and librarians can effectively integrate library resources into classroom teaching and project-based learning.
The delegation was particularly inspired by innovative approaches to library design, including flexible learning spaces, attractive book displays, dedicated reading and discussion areas, and the effective use of technology to improve access to information. These practical ideas offer valuable inspiration for the continued development of school libraries in Cambodia.

Building on these experiences, participants reflected on ways to strengthen library management and services in their own schools. Key priorities include establishing student librarian clubs, promoting regular reading activities, improving library accessibility, and strengthening community involvement to ensure long-term sustainability.

At KIZUNA, we believe that a library is more than a room filled with books—it is a gateway to knowledge, imagination, and lifelong learning. The lessons gained from Singapore will contribute to our ongoing collaboration with MoEYS and other partners to build stronger school libraries, nurture a culture of reading, and expand learning opportunities for Cambodian students.

Japan Study Tour 2026: What Is Peace?

What does “peace education” truly mean?
Perhaps only those who have experienced fear, conflict, and loss can fully understand its value.
During last year’s border conflict, several teachers from Koh Kong Province who joined this study tour experienced emergency evacuations due to airstrikes near the border. Carrying those memories with them, the participants had the opportunity to attend a special lecture on “Peace Education in Nagasaki,” organized by the Nagasaki City Board of Education — in the last city in the world to suffer an atomic bombing.
The study visit continued to Yamazato Elementary School, the Nagasaki Peace Park, and the Atomic Bomb Museum. It became a powerful day of reflection, learning, and understanding about the importance of peace education and humanity.

“Does peace education teach us to remember hatred?”
It was a sincere question from someone who had personally experienced fear and uncertainty. Such emotions are natural after hardship and conflict.
Yet, peace education is not about encouraging hatred or revenge. It is about helping people understand the value of life, empathy, compassion, and coexistence. It teaches us to think about how each of us can contribute to a more peaceful society — through kindness, respect, helping others, and gratitude in everyday life.
Peace does not begin only in history books or museums.
It begins in people.
It was truly a meaningful and unforgettable learning experience.

ក្នុងអំឡុងពេលដំណើរទស្សនកិច្ចសិក្សាអំពីប្រទេសជប៉ុនឆ្នាំ ២០២៦ សិក្ខាកាមបានទៅទស្សនកិច្ចនៅអនុវិទ្យាល័យ Ohura និងបឋមសិក្សា Yamazato ដើម្បីសង្កេតមើលដំណើរកាបន្ទប់សុខភាព និងផ្លាស់ប្តូរបទពិសោធន៍ជាមួយគ្រូទទួលបន្ទុកសុខភាពនៅប្រទេសជប៉ុន។

មេរៀនមួយក្នុងចំណោមមេរៀនដែលគួរចាប់អារម្មណ៍នោះគឺ សាលារៀននៅជប៉ុនបានបណ្តុះបណ្តាលស្មារតីទទួលខុសត្រូវ និងភាពម្ចាស់ការរបស់សិស្ស ដែលបានបណ្តុះតាំងពីក្មេង។ សិស្សបានចូលរួមយ៉ាងសកម្មក្នុងការរៀបចំអាហារថ្ងៃត្រង់ដល់មិត្តរួមថ្នាក់របស់គេ ការសម្អាតថ្នាក់រៀនរួមគ្នា ការលាងដៃមុនពេលបរិភោគ និងការដុសធ្មេញក្រោយពេលបរិភោគអាហាររួច។ ទម្លាប់ប្រចាំថ្ងៃទាំងនេះជួយកសាងស្មារតីក្រុម វិន័យ ទម្លាប់អនាម័យ និងការគោរព ដល់សហគមន៍ និងសាលារៀនរបស់ពួកគេ។

សិក្ខាកាមក៏បានស្វែងយល់ពី កម្មវិធីអាហារថ្ងៃត្រង់នៅតាមសាលារៀននៅជប៉ុន ដែលអាហារត្រូវបានរៀបចំឡើងយ៉ាងយកចិត្តទុកដាក់ដោយធានានូវអាហារូបត្ថម្ភគ្រប់គ្រាន់ និងស្តង់ដារអនាម័យយ៉ាងត្រឹមត្រូវ។ នាយកសាលាតែងតែភ្លក់អាហារមុន ពេលចែកជូនសិស្ស ដើម្បីធានាបាននូវសុវត្ថិភាពចំណីអាហារ ដែលនេះឆ្លុះបញ្ចាំងពីវប្បធម៌នៃការយកចិត្តទុកដាក់ និងការទទួលខុសត្រូវខ្ពស់នៃប្រព័ន្ធអប់រំជប៉ុននៅតាមសាលារៀន។ អាណាព្យាបាលសិស្សត្រូវចូលរួមជាថវិកា ក្នុងការរួមចំណែកកកម្មវិធីអាហារថ្ងៃត្រង់របស់កូនៗពួកគេ ដែលបង្ហាញពីការទទួលខុសត្រូវរួមគ្នាក្នុងការគាំទ្រសុខភាព និងការអប់រំរបស់កុមារ។

ការលើកឡើងរបស់គ្រូទទួលបន្ទុកសុខភាពម្នាក់ ដែលអ្នកគ្រូបានជ្រើសរើសធ្វើការនៅក្នុងសាលារៀនជំនួសឱ្យការធ្វើការក្នុងមន្ទីរពេទ្យ ដោយសារតែគាត់មានឆន្ទៈក្នុងការលើកកម្ពស់ការអប់រំ និងគាំទ្រដល់កុមារអោយមានសុខភាពល្អ ក្នុងជីវភាពរស់នៅប្រចាំថ្ងៃរបស់ពួកគេ។

ជាងនេះទៅទៀតអ្នកចូលរួមក៏បានសាកល្បងអនុវត្តសមាធិដោយផ្ទាល់ (Zen) នៅវត្ត Ko Ta-ji ដោយបានរៀនពីរបៀបនៃការតាំងអារម្មណ៍ (Mindfulness) អាចជួយឱ្យមានការផ្តោតអារម្មណ៍ ការអត់ធ្មត់ សុខភាពផ្លូវចិត្ត ដែលនាំមកនូវបរិយាកាសសិក្សាវិជ្ជមាន។

បទពិសោធន៍ទាំងនេះ បានផ្តល់នូវការបំផុសគំនិតដ៏មានអត្ថន័យសម្រាប់គ្រូបង្រៀនកម្ពុជា ដើម្បីបន្តពង្រឹងបរិស្ថានសាលារៀនដែលប្រកបដោយផាសុខភាព និងការអនុវត្តការរៀនសូត្របែបវិជ្ជមាននៅក្នុងសហគមន៍របស់ពួកគេផ្ទាល់។

Healthy Schools, Responsible Students: Lessons from Japan

As part of the Japan Study Tour 2026, participants visited Ohura Lower Secondary School and Yamazato Primary School to observe school health practices and exchange experiences with Japanese school nurse teachers.
One of the most inspiring lessons was how Japanese schools nurture responsibility and independence from an early age. Students actively serve lunch to classmates, clean their classrooms together, wash their hands before meals, and brush their teeth afterward. These daily routines help build teamwork, discipline, hygiene habits, and respect for their school community.
Participants also learned about Japan’s school lunch system, where meals are carefully prepared with balanced nutrition and strict hygiene standards. School principals even taste the meals before serving to ensure food safety, reflecting a strong culture of care and accountability. Parents also contribute to the meal program, showing shared responsibility in supporting children’s health and education.

Another inspiring story came from a school nurse who chose to work in a school instead of a hospital because of her passion for educating and supporting children in their daily lives.
The group also experienced Zen meditation at Ko Ta-ji Temple, learning how mindfulness can improve concentration, patience, emotional well-being, and positive school life.

These experiences offered meaningful inspiration for Cambodian teachers to continue strengthening healthy school environments and positive learning practices in their own communities.

ក្នុងអំឡុងពេលដំណើរទស្សនកិច្ចសិក្សានៅប្រទេសជប៉ុនឆ្នាំ ២០២៦ អ្នកចូលរួមបានរៀនសូត្រពីការរៀបចំព្រឹត្តិការណ៍កីឡា និងសកម្មភាពសម្អាតបរិស្ថានជាមួយសហគមន៍ ក្នុងការពង្រឹងទំនាក់ទំនងរវាងសាលារៀន និងសហគមន៍ តាមរយៈការធ្វើការងារជាក្រុម ការទទួលខុសត្រូវរួមគ្នា និងការចូលរួមយ៉ាងសកម្ម។

ប្រធានសហគមន៍ជប៉ុនបានចែករំលែកថា៖"បុគ្គលណាដែលធ្លាប់បានចូលរួមក្នុងសកម្មភាពសម្អាតបរិស្ថាន នឹងមិនបោះចោលសំរាមតាមផ្លូវផ្តេសផ្តាសឡើយ ពីព្រោះពួកគេយល់ពីតម្លៃនៃការការពារបរិស្ថាន។"
សារដ៏មានអត្ថន័យមួយទៀតរបស់សហគមន៍ជប៉ុនគឺ៖"យើងប្រហែលជាមិនដឹងថា បរិមាណសំរាមកើនឡើង ឬថយចុះនោះទេ ប៉ុន្តែយើងអាចមើលឃើញយ៉ាងច្បាស់ថា ចំនួនអ្នកចូលរួមក្នុងសកម្មភាពសម្អាតសហគមន៍កំពុងកើនឡើងជារៀងរាល់ឆ្នាំ។"

ក្នុងដំណើរទស្សនកិច្ចសិក្សានេះ លោកគ្រូអ្នកគ្រូពីប្រទេសកម្ពុជា បានទៅទស្សនកិច្ចសិក្សា ចូលរួម នៅព្រឹត្តិការណ៍កីឡានៅសាលា Seishio Gakuen ដែលជាសាលារៀនកម្រិតបឋមសិក្សា និងមធ្យមសិក្សារួមគ្នា ស្ថិតក្នុងខេត្តណាហ្គាសាគី (Nagasaki) ដែលមានទេសភាពសមុទ្រដ៏ស្រស់ស្អាត។
ការចួលរួមនេះ បានក្លាយជាបទពិសោធន៍ដ៏គួរឱ្យចងចាំយ៉ាងខ្លាំង ដោយសារតែការស្វាគមន៍យ៉ាងកក់ក្តៅពីសាលាដែលជាម្ចាស់ផ្ទះ ដែលបានអញ្ជើញអ្នកចូលរួមរបស់យើងឱ្យចូលរួមប្រកួតកីឡា និងរាំសម្តែងបែបប្រពៃណីជប៉ុន ជាមួយសិស្សានុសិស្ស និងសហគមន៍រួមគ្នា ដែលជាចំណងមិត្តភាព និងការសហការយ៉ាងជិតស្និទ្ធរវាងប្រទេសកម្ពុជា និងប្រទេសជប៉ុន។

បទពិសោធន៍នេះបានក្រើនរំលឹកយើងថា សាលារៀនមិនត្រឹមតែជាកន្លែងសម្រាប់រៀនសូត្រប៉ុណ្ណោះទេ ប៉ុន្តែថែមទាំងជាមជ្ឈមណ្ឌលសម្រាប់កសាងទំនាក់ទំនងជាមួយសហគមន៍ ដែលជះផលវិជ្ជមាន និងការទទួលខុសត្រូវរួមគ្នាផងដែរ។ នេះជាការបំផុសគំនិតដល់សាលាគោលដៅរបស់យើងនៅក្នុងខេត្តកោះកុង ប្រទេសកម្ពុជា ឱ្យបន្តពង្រឹងការចូលរួមជាមួយសហគមន៍ និងលើកកម្ពស់សកម្មភាពបរិស្ថានប្រកបដោយវិជ្ជមានឆ្ពោះទៅរកអនាគតដែលមានបរិស្ថានស្អាត និងប្រកបដោយចីរភាព។

Building a Clean Environment and Sustainable Community Through Participation

During the Japan Study Tour 2026, participants learned how sports events and community clean-up activities can strengthen the relationship between schools and communities through teamwork, shared responsibility, and active participation.
One inspiring message shared by a Japanese community leader was:
“People who have participated in community clean-up activities will never throw trash away carelessly because they understand the value of protecting the environment.”
Another meaningful reflection was:
“We may not know whether the amount of trash is increasing or decreasing, but we can clearly see that the number of people joining clean-up activities is increasing every year.”
As part of the study tour, teachers from Cambodia visited the Sports Day at Seishio Gakuen, a combined primary and secondary school in Nagasaki overlooking the beautiful sea. What was meant to be an observation visit became a truly memorable experience, as, through the warm hospitality of the host school, our participants were invited to join the competitions and dances alongside students and community members.
This experience reminded us that schools are not only places for learning, but also centers for building community spirit, positive values, and shared responsibility. It inspires our target schools in Koh Kong, Cambodia, to continue strengthening community participation and promoting positive environmental actions toward a cleaner and more sustainable future.

From May 7–9, 2026, the Kizuna team, in collaboration with the Koh Kong Provincial Department of Education, Youth and Sport (PoE), conducted monitoring and evaluation visits to seven Phase 1 target schools in Koh Kong Province, marking four years of implementation of the School Library Project
As this year is the last year of the project, the positive changes have been even better compared to previous years. Not only are students reading books and using the library, but there is also active participation from teachers, who are borrowing books to read at home for their own knowledge. This is an exciting sign of the growth of the reading culture and strengthening the school's ownership towards sustainability.

ការសាងសង់សាលពហុបំណងសម្រាប់ឆ្នាំ ២០២៦ បានចាប់ផ្តើមជាផ្លូវការនៅសាលាមធ្យមសិក្សាចំនួន ៦ ក្នុងខេត្តកោះកុង ព្រះវិហារ និងស្ទឹងត្រែង។

[The Multi-Functional COLA (Covered Outdoor Learning Area) Project]

The construction of the Multi-Functional COLA (Covered Outdoor Learning Area) facilities for 2026 is officially beginning at six secondary schools across Koh Kong, Preah Vihear, and Stung Treng provinces.
This initiative aims to create a more supportive and inclusive learning environment by promoting physical education and sports activities, encouraging outdoor learning opportunities, and providing safe spaces for school and community events. Through these facilities, the project seeks to contribute to the physical, mental, and social development of students while enhancing the overall school environment for holistic learning.

Kizuna organized an online meeting with school principals and librarian teachers to review the reading outcomes during the Khmer New Year holiday.
It was inspiring to see so many students spend their holiday not only relaxing, but also reading, exploring new stories, and expanding their knowledge—that’s truly amazing!
We are encouraged by the strong engagement, with many students actively reading and borrowing books. Moving forward, we will introduce student-led research activities and promote knowledge sharing between students and teachers to further strengthen a sustainable reading culture.
