GERES (Group for the Environment, Renewable Energy and Solidarity) is an independent, non-profit organization that has been promoting sustainable development worldwide since 1976. GERES' action in Southeast Asia operates in Cambodia and Myanmar and contributes to the mission of a global movement advocating for a switch to sustainable production and consumption patterns and behavior. By working with governments in support of the creation and implementation of national Wood Energy strategies, GERES contributes its expertise in the areas of sustainable forest management, sustainable woodfuel production and consumption, and Improved Cookstove (ICS) project design and implementation. Our team in Southeast Asia is made up of more than 80 highly committed & experienced specialists in the energy, environment, agronomy, research, rural development and education sectors, based in two offices, in Phnom Peng and Yangon. GERES offers a wide range of consultancies to companies and organizations, particularly in the areas of sustainable biomass energy, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and carbon audit services. GERES is the first NGO to enter the Carbon market - Voluntary Carbon Standard - with an improved cookstove project which it implements in Cambodia.

On July 24, the “Handover Workshop of the Certified Energy Manager and Auditor Training (CEMAT) Curriculum and Facilities” was successfully held at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC), bringing together representatives from government institutions, development partners, academia, and the energy sector.

The workshop marked an important milestone in strengthening Cambodia’s energy efficiency capacity through the successful enhancement and handover of the CEMAT curriculum and upgraded training facilities, developed under the collaborative efforts of the Capacity Building for Cambodia Energy Efficiency (CapCEE) Project and the Asia Low Carbon Buildings Transition (ALCBT) Project.

The upgraded facilities, including lighting and air compressor training equipment, will provide enhanced opportunities for hands-on learning and practical training, supporting the development of qualified energy managers and auditors. These efforts contribute to Cambodia’s long-term goals in improving energy efficiency and promoting low-carbon development.

We sincerely thank all partners and stakeholders for their valuable collaboration and continued commitment to building institutional capacity and advancing energy efficiency in Cambodia.

• Eligible certified participants may receive financial support covering 80%–100% of the training fee.

[𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 | 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝟒] ⚡

The Certified Energy Manager (CEM) Training – Batch 4 successfully concluded both sessions in June and July 2026 at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC), bringing together 25 participants, including 7 women from diverse organizations across Cambodia, for an intensive three-day learning experience.

Throughout both sessions, participants explored advanced topics in energy management, including energy auditing, electrical and thermal systems, HVAC, lighting, renewable energy, and the financial evaluation of energy efficiency projects. In addition to technical presentations and interactive discussions, participants took part in hands-on practical exercises, allowing them to apply energy auditing techniques, use energy measurement instruments, and strengthen their practical skills through real-world scenarios.

The training concluded with the CEM examination, marking an important milestone in participants' journey toward becoming Certified Energy Managers. We congratulate all participants for their commitment and active participation throughout the program and wish them every success in achieving their certification and contributing to Cambodia's clean energy transition.

[Certified Energy Manager 2026 | Batch 4] ⚡

The Certified Energy Manager (CEM) Training – Batch 4 successfully launched its first session on 19–20 June 2026 at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC), welcoming 25 participants, including 7 women, from diverse organizations across Cambodia.

Over the two-day session, participants strengthened their understanding of energy management principles, energy efficiency practices, and practical approaches to improving energy performance. Through technical presentations, interactive discussions, and knowledge sharing, they gained valuable insights that can be applied within their workplaces to support sustainable energy management.

The CEM Training is designed to build the capacity of energy professionals and equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to identify energy-saving opportunities, improve operational efficiency, and contribute to Cambodia's clean energy transition.

The learning journey continues with the final sessions on 2–4 July 2026. We look forward to celebrating the achievements of our future Certified Energy Managers.

📌The CHILL Project Steering Committee Meeting

The CHILL Project Steering Committee Meeting was successfully convened, bringing together representatives from the Ministry of Environment (MoE), LLC, ITC, and Geres for an afternoon of presentations, discussions, and strategic exchange.

The CHILL Project aims to improve living conditions and strengthen climate resilience in urban areas through cost-effective, energy-efficient retrofitting solutions and practical cooling interventions.

Co-organized by Geres, ITC, LLC, and the Ministry of Environment, the meeting served as a platform to review project progress, reflect on key challenges and lessons learned, and align on strategic directions to enhance overall impact.

With active participation from all partners, the discussions reinforced a shared commitment to advancing energy efficiency, strengthening knowledge exchange, and supporting evidence-based decision-making for sustainable housing and cooling solutions.
