People in Need Cambodia PIN is a non-governmental, non-profit organization founded on the ideals of humanism, freedom, equality and solidarity.

We consider human dignity and freedom to be fundamental values. People in Need is a Czech non-governmental organisation providing relief and development assistance in Cambodia since 2008. Our country programme consists of three departments that house humanitarian and development projects. More than these three departments, PIN is at the forefront of technology and innovation to enhance humanitaria

n assistance in Cambodia. (1) Disaster Management & Urban Resilience: People in Need helps strengthen both rural and urban resiliency through close cooperation with the government on addressing disaster preparedness, COVID-19 response, gender-based violence prevention, and children protection, livelihood opportunities, and social protection advocacy. (2) Green Energy & WASH: People In Need helps address many challenges that many Cambodians living in rural areas are facing in regard to energy consumption. The program aims to strengthen the agriculture and fisheries sector by encouraging MSMEs, as well as individual consumers to use more environmentally friendly and affordable sources of energy, with a special focus on solar power. (3) TVET & Alternative Livelihoods: PIN’s TVET program dedicates to improving the employability situation of rural youths by ensuring the quality of technical and vocational education and training (TVET), public-private partnership fostering, and business development. This will build a solid ground for youths to be qualified laborers and to understand better the skills demand in the job market. The department also focuses on improving rural livelihoods, strengthen environmental protection and build sustainable change in the target project areas.

📢 Strengthening inclusive early warning systems for everyone

From 8–10 June 2026, PIN Cambodia and National Committee for Disaster Management participated in the Regional Capacity Building on Inclusive Early Warning Messaging in Da Nang, Viet Nam, upon invitation from the AHA Centre.

The workshop provided a valuable platform for regional exchange and learning, bringing together experts and practitioners to explore how early warning messages can better reach and support vulnerable populations, including women, persons with disabilities, older persons, and other at-risk groups.

Through practical sessions and peer learning, participants enhanced their capacity to develop actionable, accessible, and locally relevant early warning messages. The workshop also fostered the sharing of regional good practices, lessons learned, and innovative approaches to inclusive communication.

The knowledge gained will contribute to strengthening Cambodia’s Early Warning System 1294 (EWS1294), helping ensure that life-saving information reaches the right people, at the right time, in a format they can understand and act upon.

Together, we are working towards a future where no one is left behind in disaster preparedness and response.

People in Need (PIN) Cambodia was pleased to participate in the 3rd Project Steering Committee (PSC) meeting on 4 June 2026, which reviewed one year of progress and discussed future priorities for strengthening Cambodia’s cashew and pepper value chains.

The meeting was chaired by H.E. Touch Bun Hour, Secretary of State at MAFF, and co-chaired by representatives of the European Union and the German Embassy, the meeting highlighted a shared commitment to advancing a competitive and climate-resilient agribusiness sector through stronger policies, improved food safety standards, sustainable production practices, and greater private sector engagement.

During the meeting, PIN shared key findings from its assessment of climate-resilient agricultural practices and provided updates on the field testing of innovative solutions with cashew and pepper farmers.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the EU–German partnership under CAPSAFE for supporting this important work. Through collaboration and innovation, we continue contributing to a more sustainable and resilient future for Cambodia’s agricultural sector.

We are excited to share our new report on Climate Resilient Practices for Cambodia’s cashew and pepper sectors.

The study highlights practical green solutions that help farmers adapt to climate change while improving productivity and sustainability, from biofertilizers and cover cropping to solar irrigation and eco friendly pest management 🌱☀️

The report also identifies demonstration sites across Kratie, Kampong Thom, Tboung Khmum, and Kampot to support learning and scaling of climate smart agriculture practices.

Conduct Field Learning Visit and Review Progress of Projects Supporting Farmers, Agricultural Communities, and Agribusinesses in Kampong Speu and Kampong Thom Provinces

From 19–20 May 2026, People in Need (PIN) had the honor of organizing a field learning visit and project progress review attended by H.E. Meas Piseth and H.E. Keo Omalis, Secretaries of State, and H.E. Siek Leng, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), along with representatives from the European Union (EU) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

During the visit, the delegation reviewed the production and application of biochar, biochar-based fertilizers and agricultural inputs, the cultivation of cover crops to improve soil quality and fertility, and field trials comparing crop management practices on rice and cashew productivity and quality. The team also observed the operation of solar dryers and solar water pumps, as well as the implementation of climate-smart and sustainable agricultural practices.

The learning visit provided opportunities for stakeholders to:
✅ Observe green agricultural technologies in real farming conditions
✅ Exchange experiences and feedback with farmers and agribusiness enterprises
✅ Strengthen collaboration among government institutions, development partners, the private sector, and educational institutions
✅ Discuss opportunities to scale sustainable agricultural solutions in Cambodia

At the same time, the Ministry of Agriculture provided recommendations to further improve the promotion, adoption, and utilization of these technologies to support the development of Cambodia’s agricultural sector. The initiative aims to help farmers, agricultural communities, and agribusinesses produce affordable and safe food, increase incomes, conserve natural agricultural resources such as soil, water, and forests, and enhance resilience while reducing the impacts of climate change.

Together, for a greener, more resilient, and sustainable agri-food future in Cambodia. 🌱🌾☀️

🌿⚡ Empowering Women Agri-MSMEs through Clean Technology & Low-Carbon Training

We organized a training session to strengthen women-led agricultural businesses with knowledge on clean technology solutions and low-carbon practices, in collaboration with SOTT Kasekor Chhlat and EGE Cambodia Co.,LTD.

The purpose of this training was to provide women entrepreneurs with practical insights into innovative technologies such as solar drying, solar irrigation, clean cooking solutions, and sustainable business practices, helping them reduce environmental impact while improving productivity and income.

Through this activity, women entrepreneurs enhanced their understanding of:
✨ Climate resilience
✨ Green business opportunities
✨ Sustainable agriculture practices

Together, we are supporting women Agri-MSMEs to grow their businesses while contributing to a greener and more sustainable future 💚

This activity is jointly implemented by UN Environment Programme in Asia Pacific and UN Women Asia and the Pacific.

🌿 Promoting Clean Energy Solutions for MSMEs in Kampong Thom & Siem Reap

We successfully conducted promotional events in collaboration with Husk and Agrosolar Cambodia showcasing innovative solutions that support sustainable agriculture and clean energy for MSMEs, helping promote greener and more efficient business practices 🌱

A key highlight of the events was the announcement of grant support for women-led MSMEs in both provinces, empowering women entrepreneurs to:
✨ Access renewable energy solutions
✨ Reduce energy costs
✨ Strengthen and grow their businesses

A meaningful step toward more inclusive and sustainable economic growth 💚, with increased awareness and interest among MSMEs in adopting clean energy solutions.
