CDMD - Cambodian Development Mission for Disability, formerly called Rehabilitation for Blind Cambodians - Community Based Rehabilitation, started its activities in 1993under the administration of Maryknoll, a Catholic NGO based in New York. In 2000 RBC was handed over to Caritas NGO, meanwhile the Daughters of Charity, Thailand Province, joint Caritas to administer this programme until the end of
2006. CBM has been the primary funding of this programme since the beginning until now. RBC-CBR was localized to a local NGO under the name CDMD in the beginning of 2007, and officially recognized by Ministry of Interior of Cambodia. Currently, CDMD has been implementing 04 main projects as following:
1. CBR Project:
With more than 20 years experiences in CBR field and partnership with CBM Nossal Institute in 2010 - 2012, CDMD-CBR is known and capable to transfer their knowledge and skills effectively to the community and partners in disability inclusive and inclusive development in a sustainable way. 2. Inclusive Daycare centre project aims to promote child right to live in a proper familiar environment and prevent abandonment through the creation of a secure environment for children living in the 25 selected villages in Takeo province by 2015. This project is funded by AiBi - Amici dei Bambini, Italian NGO till 2016 and then UNICEF continued its supports after AiBi phased out. 3. Social service and Inclusive education aims to ensure children with disabilities attend and achieve at schools by 2015. To achieve this, SCIE have to increase enrollment and attendance in mainstream 18 primary schools in 3 target districts of Takeo and improve the quality of education system for instruction children with disabilities in inclusive classes. 4. Disability inclusive community Project aims to improve quality of lives of men, women, and children with disabilities through rights-based and inclusive community approaches in 3 districts in Kandal and Preveng province by 2016. To achieve this, DICP promotes participation of people with disabilities and increase the role of the community coordination of comprehensive CBR services. Enhance capacity of local authorities and community stakeholders on rights base and inclusive community approaches, advocacy, referral systems, etc. This project is funded by UNICEF.
