Coalition Member Consultation Meeting

Earlier this month, Chab Dai hosted a Coalition Member Consultation Meeting, bringing together members, partners, and guests to reflect on emerging trafficking and exploitation trends.

Key issues raised included:
🔹 Economic pressures driving unsafe migration
🔹 Online risks, including recruitment scams and OCSE
🔹 Gaps in cross-border support and referral systems
🔹 The importance of survivor-led, ethical approaches

Through open discussion and shared learning, members identified common priorities and practical ways to strengthen coordination and collective action.

This marks an important step toward a more connected, evidence-informed coalition and the development of a shared Learning Hub approach.

The Chab Dai Coalition recently held a meeting with CSO members who provide shelter services. The session focused on strengthening a shared understanding of “who does what” to avoid service overlap, clarifying who qualifies for shelter to streamline referrals, and aligning the length of stay with individuals’ recovery needs.

During the meeting, members shared their shelter information and discussed collaboration on co-case management to provide more holistic support to the coalition’s clients.

Chab Dai was glad to join AirAsia Foundation and partners in exploring how trafficking continues to evolve and how we can respond together.

Human trafficking looks different today than it did a decade ago. It’s evolving quickly in our digital world, and we need to keep up.

On 13 February 2026, AirAsia Foundation brought together frontliners across ASEAN at RedQ to explore one important question: How is human trafficking changing in the age of technology? 💻🚨

We were joined by dedicated representatives from Tenaganita, Global Shepherds, IJM Malaysia, SUHAKAM (Human Rights Commission of Malaysia), Project Liber8, LIFT International, Our Journey, Freedom Ports Alliance (FPA), and Chab Dai. Together with AirAsia’s own frontliners, including Cabin Crew, Security, and Ground Staff, they shared powerful stories and insights that deepened our understanding of this complex issue.

Here’s what we learned:
≫ Trafficking is moving online. Exploitation now appears in new forms such as fake job offers, online scams, and social media recruitment.
≫ Tactics are getting smarter. Traffickers are using AI and digital tools to hide their tracks, making victims harder to identify.
≫ Old dangers remain. While scam trafficking dominates headlines, labour and s*x trafficking continue every day, and many victims still struggle to access help.

These insights are already shaping action within AirAsia. We are refreshing our internal anti-trafficking training and exploring technology-based, victim-centred approaches to make our response stronger and more compassionate.

Ending trafficking is not a task for one group alone. Real progress happens when communities and businesses keep their eyes open and act responsibly to protect those who are most vulnerable. 🤝🏻

Last week, our coalition team hosted a half-day training on human trafficking at our office for organisations led by and for people with disabilities (OPDs) from Pursat, Siem Reap, and Kratie Provinces.

This training is part of a broader, policy-focused project to strengthen disability inclusion in Cambodia’s anti-trafficking work. People with disabilities are particularly vulnerable to human trafficking, and survivors may also experience disabilities as a result of exploitation. Partnering with OPDs ensures that policies and programs are informed and guided by the people whose lives they impact.

Through this project, OPDs gain knowledge of trafficking risks and responses, so they can share learning within their communities and contribute to national-level advocacy. When diverse voices are included, our collective response becomes stronger and more effective.

“Now I feel safe and secure.”

In a rural community in northern Cambodia, a young girl named Sreypich lives with her family, where daily life already comes with many challenges.

As part of Chab Dai’s holistic approach to child protection, we were supporting Sreypich after she experienced s*xual abuse. During this process, another serious concern became clear: the family’s home had no restroom.

Without basic sanitation, Sreypich and her younger sister were forced to use open areas, leaving them feeling exposed and unsafe, particularly at night. Addressing safety meant looking beyond immediate response and considering the everyday conditions affecting their well-being.

Chab Dai worked with the family and local commune and village authorities to identify a practical solution: the construction of a household restroom as a key step to improve safety, dignity, and health.

This effort was collaborative. Local authorities provided construction materials to support the family, while Sreypich’s family contributed additional supplies and labour. We supported the process with extra materials, food, and essential items during construction, and facilitated sessions on sanitation and hygiene to help ensure long-term use and improved health.

Throughout the process, we stayed closely connected with both the family and local officials. Follow-up meetings included local authorities, strengthening shared responsibility and reinforcing community commitment to protecting children and supporting families facing vulnerability.

After the restroom was completed, the change was immediate. Sreypich shared:

“Now, I feel safe and secure when using the restroom and no longer fear harassment or abuse at night or in isolated outdoor areas.”

A simple but essential intervention became a source of dignity and reassurance. It also strengthened collaboration between civil society and local duty bearers, showing how practical action can respond to real protection needs.

Child-centred support goes beyond legal or psychosocial care. It also addresses the everyday realities that shape safety, health, and well-being. Sometimes, restoring dignity begins with something as fundamental as a door that locks.

Last week, in partnership with the Department of Women’s Affairs (DoWA) Preah Vihear, we held awareness sessions in a displaced persons camp in Preah Vihear for teachers and women.

The sessions strengthened knowledge on child protection, s*xual and reproductive health, and online safety. Teachers were supported as frontline child protectors, while women and young mothers gained practical tools to keep themselves and their families safe both offline and online.

Together, we’re helping build safer learning spaces and stronger community resilience in displacement settings.

Joining Hands to Make Change This Holiday Season

As the festive season approaches, we reflect on the power of working together. Complex challenges like human trafficking require partnerships, shared resources, and collective action. Alone, progress is limited. Together, we create lasting change.

This festive season, your support can make collaboration even stronger. End the year by giving. Your gift ensures the coalition can continue working together, sharing resources, and tackling complex issues so more survivors and communities can access justice, protection, and opportunity.

Thank you for joining hands with us to create hope, collaboration, and change this holiday season.

In response to the recent escalation of armed conflict along the Khmer–Thai border and the displacement of families in affected areas, Chab Dai, together with the National Committee for Counter Trafficking (NCCT), carried out an emergency distribution across three temporary displacement sites in Preah Vihear Province, where families are currently taking shelter.

With generous support from ERIKS Development Partner - Asia Region, we reached pregnant women and mothers with children under two years old with 400 specialized emergency packages designed to meet their specific needs during displacement.

The distribution was presided over by H.E. Sereyleakhena, Deputy Secretary-General of NCCT, with strong support from the Departments of Women’s Affairs (DoWA), Social Affairs (DoSAVY), as well as camp managers and their teams.

At a time of heightened uncertainty, coordinated humanitarian action matters. Together, we are supporting mothers and infants with care, dignity, and protection.

Chab Dai's Prevention Team, together with the Community Heroes, recently hosted an Impact Sharing and 2026 Scale-up Planning session in Punhea Krek District, Tboung Khmum Province.

We were honoured to welcome H.E. Pon Samkhan (NCCT) and H.E. Ny Chantyda (PCCT), along with representatives from the Tboung Khmum Provincial Department.

The highlight of the event: the Community Heroes led the entire programme. They facilitated discussions, shared achievements and outcome stories through panel sessions and presentations, and worked together to shape a strategic plan for 2026 that will integrate the prevention framework into their work.

Their leadership continues to inspire.
