🌟👧🏻 🇰🇭🇬🇧 ASEAN-UK YLI joined Ms Sreylang, Girl Takeover as the British Ambassador to Cambodia for a day, whom also ASEAN-UK YLI’s Project Advisor, for a conversation on opportunities and barriers facing women, girls and young people. Ms Sorphy, our Programme Coordinator also attended.

✨ At her Girl Takeover reception, Sreylang delivered a powerful message on education, women’s leadership and equal opportunities. Where a girl comes from should never determine how far she can go. 60km from Prey Veng to Phnom Penh can still feel far when opportunities aren’t equal.💪

On 7 October 2026, Ms Sreylang served as the Girl Takeover for the British Ambassador to Cambodia for a day, during which she met with the Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, visited Unilever and Khmer Enterprise, and joined a discussion with women leaders on leadership and economic empowerment.

We are proud to share this special moment with Sreylang, Project Advisor of ASEAN-UK YLI, whose continued commitment helps create opportunities for the next generation of leaders.

Girls Takeover is a global campaign organised around the International Day of the Girl Child, giving girls opportunities to step into leadership spaces.

ASEAN UK Young Leaders Initiative is proud to support this initiative alongside Plan International Cambodia and British Embassy in Cambodia, who are promoting women in leadership and inspiring young women and girls to lead, think and dream big for a more inclusive future.

A day of leadership, a step towards equality.

This morning, we were delighted to welcome Ms Sreylang, who is stepping into the role of Dominic Williams British Ambassador to Cambodia for the day; putting women’s leadership and voices at the heart of diplomacy.

Throughout the day, she will lead meetings with key stakeholders, including government representatives, British businesses, and inspiring women and youth leaders.

Because women belong at every table where decisions are made. And empowering women to lead today helps create a more equal and inclusive tomorrow.

Stay tuned to follow Sreylang’s full day in the role and see what it means when women lead.

Over the last few months, General Coordinator of ASEAN-UK YLI, attended the ASEAN Future Forum (AFF) Youth Roundtable, the official youth-side event for young representatives of ASEAN Member States and the United Kingdom, on 8 June 2026 in Hanoi, Viet Nam, where he attended as the Cambodian youth representative.

This programme is a continuation of the AFF ASEAN NextGen Workshop held in March 2026 in Jakarta, Indonesia. 14 ASEAN youth representatives jointly discussed and finalized the AFF Youth Statement: Aspiration 2030, an official youth inputs that will be submitted to the 3rd AFF Report, which will be delivered to ASEAN Leaders at the upcoming ASEAN Summit in November 2026 in the Philippines.

ASEAN-UK YLI would like to express our appreciation for the support from the British Embassy in Cambodia and the warm coordination from the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV) and the UK Mission to ASEAN.
