From scavenging on a garbage dumpsite to representing Cambodia on the global stage and a career in STEM.

At 18, Maly is on track to become the first in her family to attend university, with ambitions to study engineering and build a career in the automotive industry.

It’s an extraordinary milestone driven by her determination and made possible by access to education.

As a child, Maly scavenged on the former Steung Meanchey dumpsite in Phnom Penh to help her family survive. Today, she is thriving as a Grade 11 student at our Neeson Cripps Academy, supported by our model that combines education with healthcare, nutrition, housing, and community development.

Maly’s journey has already taken her far beyond what once seemed possible. Last year, she represented Cambodia at the FIRST Global robotics competition in Panama—her first time on a plane, and a moment that opened her eyes to a world of opportunity.

But what makes Maly’s story truly remarkable is not just how far she has come—it’s how she is lifting others along the way.

Maly volunteers to help feed children at our Evening Food Program in the community after school and teaches extra classes to younger students at weekends, supporting the next generation to follow their dreams too.

Maly’s story is a powerful reminder that when children are given access to education, care, and opportunity, they don’t just change their own lives—they become leaders who transform their communities.

This is the impact of long-term, holistic support. This is what it means to ensure no child is left behind.

A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Sophea Böttcher and her husband, Udo, for their incredible generosity and unwavering support in helping keep our children healthy, happy, and inspired.

Their generous donation of milk powder and English books for our library, valued at approximately US$30,000, will make a lasting difference in the lives of our most vulnerable children. This support helps ensure they receive proper nutrition while encouraging a love of reading and learning, giving them the best possible start in life.

Since 2004, CCF has provided education and support to more than 4,000 children, empowering them with the knowledge, confidence, and opportunities they need to build brighter futures.

This is a special book! At our Sydney Gala, our guests bid at an auction for the opportunity to Name a Character in a children’s book. The winning bidder paid $25,000 for his daughter to be included in Millie Mak Makes Her Mark, the third and final book in this bestselling series. What an incredible gift for her, and an amazing gift for CCF.

We wanted to share our gratitude to author Alice Pung and illustrator Sher Rill Ng for their extraordinary generosity. What started as just a mention in their book turned into a beautifully illustrated journey for our CCF supporter’s character.

The Annual Youth Talk is one of CCF’s leadership initiatives, providing a platform for young people to share their ideas, experiences, and inspiring stories. It encourages students to develop confidence in public speaking, strengthen their leadership skills, and inspire positive change within their community.

This year’s AYT has been planned, organized, and produced by our senior students, showcasing their creativity, teamwork, and dedication. We’re proud of their hard work and can’t wait to share this exciting event with you. Stay tuned for more updates—we look forward to welcoming you to AYT!

When she was two years old, Sovann was taken out onto the streets with her mum, scavenging to survive.

Today, at 14, she loves science, maths, and English, and dreams of becoming a doctor to save lives and give back.

First, we got her off the streets and into kindergarten. Pictured at her kindergarten graduation, her mum proudly stands with CCF founder Scott Neeson. A few months ago, Sovann made her mom proud again by accepting an award from Scott for her Grade 9 achievements.

This is what opportunity looks like.
