Synopsis: Cambodian youth have until today to submit one-minute videos for Youth For Development’s (YFD) “One Person, One Video” campaign, with several entries already shared online ahead of Khmer New Year.
Youth For Development (YFD) is calling on Cambodian youth to take part in its “One Person, One Video” campaign as the submission deadline closes today, with several participants already posting short clips celebrating culture and national identity.
The initiative encourages young people to produce one-minute videos highlighting Khmer New Year traditions, expressing gratitude to frontline soldiers, and promoting Cambodia’s cultural heritage. The campaign comes as the country prepares to celebrate the upcoming Khmer New Year, one of the nation’s largest annual festivals.
Soeurn Udom, General Manager of YFD, said the campaign was inspired by the growing creativity of youth in the digital era and their ability to influence society through short-form content.
“Every young person has a voice and the ability to make a positive impact on society,” he said. “Even a one-minute video, if made from the heart, can inspire deep reflection and national pride.”
Several videos shared on social media already celebrate messages of appreciation to those who safeguard peace. The campaign also encourages participants to show how culture remains relevant through modern digital storytelling.
The campaign aims to connect generations by encouraging young people to recognise the sacrifices of national heroes while celebrating Khmer traditions.
He believes it will create a strong positive impact on both youth and the general public.
Udom explained, “Seeing young people enjoying the New Year while acknowledging the sacrifices of those who protect our country is one of the greatest forms of recognition we can offer.”
The campaign also seeks to connect generations, reminding youth that they are part of a larger movement, “From Cambodian Youth, For Cambodia.” By engaging directly with cultural traditions through video, young participants not only celebrate their heritage but also help ensure its survival for future generations.
“This campaign is not merely about creating videos to share greetings; it is about planting the seeds of pride and responsibility in the hearts of youth, nurturing them to become the next generation who fully understand and uphold their roots,” he said
