The WOF reception, hosted by Ms. Nilma and Ambassador Dominic Williams, celebrated the 12 Cambodian finalists for 2025 and the listees of Kindness & Leadership 2025. We were joined by H.E. Sok Chan Chhorvy and H.E. Chring Botum Rangsay, along with a full room of people who believe in the power of women.

The Arts & Culture award, goes to Ines Sothea Congratulations!

Ines is an award-winning Cambodian filmmaker, screenwriter, and producer whose work amplifies women’s voices and spotlights marginalised communities.
Ines’ journey – from a young woman expected to study finance to an award-winning filmmaker transforming Cambodian storytelling – left a profound impression on judges. Her first short film, Rice, marked the beginning of a career defined by purpose and courage. Through her work with BBC Media Action and now Cambodia Film Lab – a three-month filmmaking programme that comprises 50% female students – she has given a voice to young people and created opportunities in a field where formal training is scarce.

The Sports Award, goes to Tharoth Sam ! Congratulations!

Tharoth Sam is a martial artist, MMA fighter, and actress and has represented Cambodia in global tournaments and appeared in major Hollywood films – using her platform to promote sport as a force for inclusion.

Judges were inspired by Tharoth’s resilience. From overcoming sexual harassment to taking up martial arts against the expectations of her family and community, she has shown remarkable courage at every stage of her journey. They admired how she balanced international success – including film roles alongside Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lopez – with an unwavering commitment to protecting and supporting others. Her dream of creating stunt schools for women and preserving Cambodia’s martial arts tradition particularly moved the panel. The judges see immense potential in her future and will be watching her journey with great admiration.

The Mentor of the Year award, goes to Khim Bun ! Congratulations!

Khim Bun is the Co-founder and General Manager of Mekong Inclusive Venture, our second candidate drives entrepreneurship for people with disabilities. She also pioneers Cambodia’s first accessible transport and ICT training for women with disabilities. The judges were impressed with Kim Bun’ scaling a national national programme across Cambodia. Through her mentorship, 100’s of disabled women – many unable to read or write – have found their voice, gained confidence, and developed digital and financial skills.
