🌿 OBT Newsletter – August 2026 Edition 🌿

Bringing our community together, one project at a time! 💚

This month we're sharing exciting progress from Chiro Village:

📚 The Library – Successfully relocated to its final position! Next step: adding a proper foundation so it can open its doors to children eager to read and learn.

💧 Water Supply System – We've upgraded the pump/well chain with a brand-new system, ensuring safer, more reliable water for our guests, staff, and community.

🏡 The Bungalows – Roofing renovations are underway to keep our guests comfortable and our spaces welcoming.

🌻 Sunflower Oil Warehouse – Foundation complete! Despite rainy season challenges, we're moving steadily toward a sustainable income project for OBT's future.

A heartfelt thank you to our partner NGOs Échange Solidarité and SEAJA for their unwavering support in making these projects possible. 🙏

Coming soon: a fully operative library, our first sunflower oil production, and 15 new classroom tables!

🩺 Free Skin Health Check-Up Program 🩺
Today the medical team visited OBT to conduct free skin examinations for local students, checking for common skin conditions and helping identify issues before they become serious.

The healthcare workers carefully examined each child, providing guidance on proper hygiene and skin care to prevent infection and promote healthy skin. 🧴

Good skin health starts with awareness and access to care. We're proud to bring these essential health services directly to the children who need them most. 💙

A heartfelt thank you to our medical team for their dedication, and to the school and families for their support in making this outreach possible. Together, we're helping our children grow up healthier. 🙏

🎬 Movie Time at OBT ! 🎬

For our final day together, Jack decided to swap textbooks for the big screen! Instead of grammar drills and vocabulary charts, our classroom transformed into a mini cinema_ projector propped up on its trusty stand, speakers cranked, and the whole gang gathered around the wooden desks for a movie in English.

It was the perfect way to wrap things up: relaxed, fun, and still sneaking in a bit of listening practice as the students followed along with the English subtitles. Lots of laughs, a few dramatic reactions, and plenty of smiles for the camera before saying goodbye.

Grateful for every lesson and every giggle from this wonderful group of students. Here's to the memories made both on and off the whiteboard. 💛📚✨

💻 Computer Skills in Action ! 🌟

Our students are putting their computer skills to the test today! From typing and formatting to navigating Microsoft Word, they're learning practical digital skills that will help them both in and out of the classroom.

It's wonderful to see their focus and determination as they work through each task proof that access to technology and hands-on practice makes all the difference. 👩‍💻👨‍💻

Keep up the great work, everyone ! 🎉

🌸 A beautiful afternoon at Organization For Basic Training_ OBT! 🌸

Our students welcomed visitors with a traditional Khmer dance performance, filling the room with color, music, and smiles. It's moments like these that remind us why this space matters — a place where children learn English, computer skills, connect with visitors from around the world, and proudly share their culture. 💻🇰🇭

Thank you to everyone who came to visit and support our students today. Your presence means the world to them! ✨
