We have been working with children since 2002 by providing English Language Skills, Computer Skills, and Community development. DCC’s computer center for skills training and job search assistance has been in full swing since the organization’s grand opening in December. Students can come to DCC to take basic computer courses from qualified university student instructors, to receive job-search assi

stance, or simply, to use the Internet for work or personal purposes. Trained volunteers instruct interested peers in one hour sessions, and the computer skills training provides an overview of Microsoft Office and instruction on how to use the Internet for a variety of professional and social functions. All students and neighborhood youth are welcome to use the computer lab, and the Khmer Student Center offers a discount rate of 1000 riel per hour of Internet youth (this is one half the price one pays at Internet cafes located in the city). DCC’s philosophy is that youth with basic computer skills knowledge are more likely to find better work opportunities than those who without. Our affordable computer skills and job assistance trainings and low-cost Internet surfing rate are meant to encourage local youth to take advantage of the many learning and working opportunities provided by the Internet and to succeed in their future endeavors.

From April 22 to 25 our teacher from DCC , Sopheak Chhorda got an opportunity to participate in the Access Teacher Training Program and the 6th annual Edcamp in Kampot Province which was supported by the U.S Embassy in Phnom Penh.The training provided a platform for participants to share experiences, strengthen teaching skills, and explore new instructional approaches and attended by Access teachers from various provinces in Cambodia.
