Khmer New Year Celebration at HOPE for Cambodian Children Foundation.

This week, our children, students, and staff came together to welcome the Khmer New Year with joy, laughter, and tradition.

From lively Khmer dances to traditional games, the celebration was filled with smiles, music, and unforgettable moments. The energy and happiness of our HOPE family truly lit up the day!

As they stepped into the long New Year holiday, everyone carried with them the warmth of community, the beauty of culture, and the spirit of hope.

We wished all our friends and supporters a safe, joyful, and prosperous Khmer New Year!

Morning at the Hope for Cambodian Children Foundation

Every day begins with our Early Learning Childcare and Education Program kids gathering together to sing the Cambodian national anthem, raise the flag, and lift their voices in Cambodian and English songs for morning exercise.

The honour of raising the flag is a reward for kindness, effort, and teamwork. It reminds our students that pride in their country begins with pride in themselves, clean uniforms, ready to learn, and hearts open to compassion.

Together, we are nurturing proud Cambodians who value respect, unity, and hope.

Meet Sreyleap

At just 15 years old, Sreyleap faces many challenges; her mother works abroad, and her family has no permanent home. Yet she studies diligently, ranking 11th in her class, while helping her father with household chores and market work.

Her dream is to become a police officer, and with her father’s encouragement and community support, she continues to pursue education with determination and hope.

Celebrating 20 Years of Dedication

Today, we formally acknowledge Jenny McAuley as a Founder of Hope for Cambodian Children Foundation

From the very beginning, over 20 years ago, when HOPE was an orphanage centre, Jenny worked tirelessly to build a safe and loving environment for children together with her co-founders, Mr John Kinsella and Mr Tim Berry. Over the years, Jenny has continued to devote her energy to the Australian Board with her strong dedication and leadership, holding the position of Chair, and now serving as Deputy Chair, guiding HOPE through its transformation into an International NGO.

Jenny’s commitment, hard work, and compassion have been a cornerstone of our journey. Miss Jenny, your legacy is written in the lives of the children and families who have found hope and opportunity because of your dedication.

Thank you for walking beside us for two decades, and for continuing to inspire us with your leadership and love.

Community Sport Program

Two of our under-14 football teams proudly joined the Indochina Starfish Foundation (ISF) competition! Thanks to ISF’s support, they received uniforms and transport to make this dream possible.

Each team will play three matches in their pool, with the Battambang champion heading to Phnom Penh for the finals. The ultimate winner will take home a big prize!

We’re so proud of our young athletes; their passion and teamwork inspire hope every step of the way.

Honouring Miss Annette’s 15 Years of Service.

We would like to take a moment and give heartfelt thanks to Miss Annette, who has decided to step down as a Board member after dedicating over 15 years to the Hope for Cambodian Children Foundation. As well as being an active supporter and visiting us at the centre on many occasions, Annette also served as Board Secretary. Annette’s contributions have strengthened our community and inspired hope for countless children.

Now, as Annette retires from the Board, we want to honour her legacy of love and dedication. Miss Annette, your impact will continue to shine in the lives you’ve touched and the future you’ve helped build, and we are grateful that you will continue working with us in your new role of Ambassador.

Thanks again to a wonderful lady, Sue from Sydney, who generously spends her spare time knitting HOPE teddy bears.

With deep gratitude, we thank Charlie, the Kwik Flo company, for his generous sponsorship of a new house for one of the most vulnerable families in our community through the Hope for Cambodian Children Foundation.

This support will transform the life of Mrs Khoeurn, a 42-year-old mother caring for four family members under one fragile roof. For years, her family has endured unsafe shelter and scarce food, yet their unity and resilience have remained unbroken.

Thanks to Charlie’s kindness, they will soon have a safe home—a place of dignity, protection, and hope.

Together, we are building brighter futures, one family at a time.

Happy international Women’s Day.
