π ASEAN: 21st GO-NGO Forum on Social Welfare and Development
HelpAge Cambodia was pleased to join the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation (MoSVY) as a co-host of the 21st ASEAN GO-NGO Forum on Social Welfare and Development, held virtually on 8 September 2026 under the theme βStrengthening Social Service for People in Vulnerable Situations Towards a More Inclusive, Empowered, and Caring Society.β
The Forum brought together around 90 participants from across ASEAN and the wider region, including government representatives, NGOs, civil society organisations, development partners and other stakeholders, to exchange experiences and discuss how we can strengthen social services for people in vulnerable situations.
Across the discussions, participants explored three key areas: strengthening inclusive social service systems, enhancing multi-sectoral partnerships, and promoting community-based and people-centred social services.
The discussions highlighted the importance of stronger collaboration across sectors and more inclusive, accessible and people-centred social services that respond to the diverse needs of people in vulnerable situations.
Moving forward, the Forumβs recommendations provide an opportunity for stakeholders across the region to turn shared learning and commitments into stronger partnerships, policy action and practical approaches that leave no one behind.
We are also pleased to see the contribution of the ALAP - Alliance on Longevity in Asia-Pacific as part of this regional dialogue, bringing perspectives on social services and the needs of ageing populations into the wider conversation on inclusive development.
