22 September 2026, the Non-Timber Forest Products Organization (NTFP), through the project “Conservation of Red-shanked Douc Langur by Indigenous Peoples and Community Livelihood Improvement through NTFP Market Development (IPDAM)” supported by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN-ProBioDev), in collaboration with the Provincial Departments of Environment of Stung Treng and Ratanakiri, organized a workshop on “Reflection on Biodiversity Research Findings, with a Focus on Red-shanked Douc Langur .”

The workshop was presided over by Mr. Lach Bunlong, Director of Administration of Stung Treng Provincial Hall; Mr. Sreng Cha Heng, Director of the Stung Treng Provincial Department of Environment; and Mr. Phon Khemarin, Director of the Ratanakiri Provincial Department of Environment. The workshop was also attended by heads of relevant offices, national park directors, local authorities, commune council representatives, development partner organizations, and representatives of the seven Community Protected Areas (CPAs), with a total of 72 participants, including 13 women.

The seven Community Protected Areas are geographically located within the landscapes of Virachey National Park and Veun Sai–Siem Pang National Park, which are recognized for their rich biodiversity and diverse wildlife species. Among the species identified, particular attention was given to the white-cheeked gibbon, a species classified as threatened on the IUCN Red List.

With the cooperation and support of the Provincial Departments of Environment of Stung Treng and Ratanakiri, over the 24-month implementation period of the project, NTFP and the two Provincial Departments of Environment conducted biodiversity research to identify locations where Red-shanked Douc Langur and other wildlife species were present. The research covered 137 sites, using camera traps and direct field observations. Red-shanked Douc Langur were detected at 12 of the 137 surveyed sites, providing important evidence on their presence and distribution within the targeted community conservation landscapes.

Human rights education in action in Cambodia!

Neang Visal, Executive Director of the Non-Timber Forest Products Organization, led a human rights training in Preah Vihear Province. The Cambodian NGO works to empower Indigenous and vulnerable communities and protect their rights.

Thirty-five participants from three provinces learned about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, child rights, Indigenous rights, women’s rights and international human rights mechanisms, using materials from Youth for Human Rights International.

; On August 25-27, 2026, NTFP organization has provided 3-day training course was on International Human Rights and Mechanisms to strengthen staff and community capacity at deepening foundational knowledge of international human rights standards. Bringing together 39 participants —including a strong majority of women (19 female participants)—the workshop provided the practical spaces to unpack international human rights conventions and explore how international legal frameworks connect directly to local realities. Impression from youths about human rights literacy is an indispensable for the community development.
The training has contributed to build future resilience for local youths, particularly women with structured human rights knowledge. It helped to build community leadership capable of identifying emerging challenges on human rights, and navigating local administrative processes with their own confidence. Anyway, it supported to equip all participants to transfer human rights mechanisms into practical community active participation.

Lak LLLC: On July 11, 2026, the NTFP team had the honor of welcoming His Excellency Dr. Dy Sam Sidet, Secretary General of the National Committee for Lifelong Learning, and his delegation during their monitoring and evaluation visit to the Koklak Lifelong Learning Center (LLLC) in Koklak Commune, Veun Sai District, Ratanakiri Province.
Results of the Visit:
•His Excellency Dr. Dy Sam Sidet delivered the welcome remarks and explained the purpose of the monitoring and evaluation visit to the Koklak Lifelong Learning Center.
•Mr. Bin Savoeurn, NTFP Project Manager for Non-Formal Education (NFE) and Community Learning Centers (CLCs), presented an overview of NTFP's education program and highlighted the achievements and progress of the Koklak Lifelong Learning Center.
•Following the presentation, His Excellency, the delegation, volunteer literacy teachers, community volunteers, and other participants joined a tree-planting activity at the Koklak Lifelong Learning Center. The activity aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage environmental conservation among the Kavet community.

On July 2, 2026, Non-Timber Forest Products, NTFP Organization led the monthly staff meeting for June 2026, which was attended by staff from three provinces: Ratanakiri, Stung Treng, and Preah Vihear provinces, with a total of 41 participants (19 women). The purpose of the meeting was for all staff to learn and share experiences, and report on the achievements, challenges, and solutions of each project that has been achieved so far.

បុគ្គលិក របស់អង្គការអនុផលព្រៃឈើ សាខាខេត្តព្រះវិហារ ក្រោមគម្រោង IMPACT Program បានទទួលថវិកា ពី អង្គការ Mission Alliance (MA) បានរៀបចំផ្តល់វគ្គបណ្តុះបណ្តាល ស្តីពី ការពង្រឹងភាពអង់អាចរបស់យុវជន និងភាពជាអ្នកដឹកនាំ ក្នុងនោះមានប្រធានបទចំនួន ៦ គឺ:

Staff from the Non-Timber Forest Products Organization (NTFP) Preah Vihear Branch, under the IMPACT Program funded by the Mission Alliance (MA) organization, organized a two-day training course on Youth Empowerment and Leadership. The training covered six main topics:
1. Self-motivation
2. Self-discipline
3. Time Management
4. Learning Diary
5. Critical Thinking
6. Personal Financial Management
The training was provided to youth groups from Chhhaeb and Rovieng districts on June 23 and 24, 2026, at the District Office of Education, Youth and Sports in Rovieng District, Preah Vihear Province. There was a total of 20 participants, including 10 females. Among them were 2 Kuoy indigenous people (1 female)."

Treng; On June 16-18, 2026, the Non-Timber Forest Products Organization (NTFP) assigned three staff from the Non-Formal Education, NFE and Community Learning Center, CLC to attend a training course on “Multilingual and Mother-tongue Language Education” that held at the Stung Treng Provincial Pedagogical Center. The training course had 30 participants, including 17 women.
purpose of participating in the three-day training course was to provide project staff with additional skills in multilingual and mother tongue language education and to share their experiences and knowledge regarding multilingual mother tongue language education in different areas of the indigenous people in northeastern provinces in Cambodia.

On June 11-12, 2026, the NTFP team, in collaboration with DVV International, coordinated and invited expert trainers from the Secretariat of the National Committee for Lifelong Learning and the Model Lifelong Learning Center (from Kampot Province) to provide a life-skills training course for volunteer teachers and women literacy students at the Santipheap Community Learning Center, located in Teak Team village, Santipheap commune, Siem Pang district, Stung Treng Province. The main participants of the training course included: parents, students, volunteer teachers, and village and commune authorities, with 31 participants (20 women).

#ឆមាសទី១ នៃឆ្នាំ២០២៦ ក្រុមសត្វស្វាកន្ទុយ-ស និងសត្វងាយរងគ្រោះផ្សេងៗដទៃទៀតត្រូវបានបង្ហាញវត្តមាននៅសហគមន៍តំបន់ការពារធម្មជាតិ ដែលស្ថិតនៅក្នុងភូមិសាស្ត្រឧទ្យានជាតិវីរៈ និងវើនសៃ-សៀមប៉ាង ។ ហ្វូងដ៏ធំបែបនេះ គឺជាសញ្ញាណមួយបង្ហាញថាតំបន់នេះរក្សាបាននូវធម្មជាតិ និងធនធានសម្រាប់ការរស់រានរបស់សត្វព្រៃ។ លទ្ធផលទំាងនេះបានមកពីផ្លែផ្កានៃកិច្ចខិតខំប្រឹងប្រែងរបស់សហគមន៍ និងអ្នកពាក់ព័ន្ធផ្សេងៗរួមទំាងអាជ្ញាធរ និងជាពិសេសមន្ទីរបរិស្ថានដែលបានផ្តល់កិច្ចសហការយ៉ាងល្អក្នុងការសិក្សាជីវៈចម្រុះ ជាពិសេសស្វាកន្ទុយសរ។
គួបញ្ជាក់ផងដែរស្វាកន្ទុយសរ គឺជាប្រភេទសត្វងាយរងគ្រោះជិតផុតពូជបំផុត ដែលបានដាក់ក្នុងបញ្ជីក្រហមរបស់ IUNC។
the first semester of 2026, groups of Red Shanked Douc and other vulnerable wildlife species were recorded within Community Protected Areas located in the landscapes of Virachey National Park and Veun Sai–Siem Pang National Park. The presence of such large groups is an important indication that these areas continue to maintain natural habitats and resources essential for wildlife survival.

These achievements are the result of the collective efforts of local communities, relevant stakeholders, authorities, and especially the Provincial Departments of Environment, which have provided strong cooperation in biodiversity research and conservation, particularly for Red Shanked Douc.

It should also be noted that Red Shanked Douc are classified as a critically endangered species and are listed on the IUCN Red List.
