With the support of GIZ Kenya Promoting Employability and Entrepreneurship in Turkana West (ProSEET) project, CEEC conducted non-violent conflict resolution trainings for a total of 91 Department of Refugee Services (DRS) staff members (management and field officers). Delivered in four cohorts of 5 days each between October and December 2025 in Kakuma, the training strengthened staff capacity on conflict analysis, dispute resolution mechanisms as well as gender and conflict sensitive programming and service delivery. These are critical skills in contexts where complex socio-economic conditions often give rise to tensions and conflict within and between refugees and host communities.
Participants committed to integrate conflict analysis in DRS programming, apply conflict and gender-sensitive approaches across DRS operations, strengthen collaboration with community leaders for peaceful co-existence between refugees and host communities as well as promote and disseminate nonviolent conflict resolution knowledge and skills among the refugee population.
