The survey reveals that cases of child hope
lessness are rampant, case of HIV/AIDS which has continued depriving children of their educational providers. SWA-CC centre started mobilization in 1st October 2011 through the church after seeing the urgent need to provide these children with an alternative environment. The centre operates this institution under the name SWA-CC Centre, but due to lack of resources, the centre has not been able to put up the needed structures to accommodate these children. A kind hearted church member has volunteered his room, spiritual nourishment and support. The same room is also used as a church temporarily. The project has 50 children for a start and in future expected to integrate and serve children in the area. BACKGROUND INFORMATION
SWA-CC Centre is a non profit making entity established on 1st October 2011 in response to myriad of development problems in Kangemi village e.g. food shortage, abject poverty, increasing cases of HIV/AIDS, poor environment, early school dropout, child displacement and many more others making existence here quite pathetic and miserable. The centre started rescue academy after the survey done confirmed that children hopelessness in this area has reached an alarming rate and that this is the order of the day in this area and that very little is done to rehabilitate and rectify the situation. ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURES
SWA-CC Centre structure provides for the governing body as the top organs in decision making of all affairs of the organization. Under the governing body is the executive committee which is responsible for planning, controlling and management of the centre. Under the executive is a cluster of other sub committees including:
The staff and general purposes committee who will always receive the mandate and authority from the executive committee to assist in transaction of matters pertaining to the staff and other matters of test as many is seen desirable by the executive committee and in accordance with the law. Is the finance committees which will also at all time receive authority and mandate from the executive committee to assist in streamlining matters pertaining to the finances of the centre
Slightly under this sub committee is the secretariat which has the responsibility of ensuring a smooth running of the office and co-ordination of all the projects/programs initiated by the organization. The financial comes the service provider/field project assistants at the community level whose responsibility is to disseminate services to the community. Be there at all times for the community and ensure that the projects succeed at this level. PROJECT SUMMARY AND PROBLEM STATEMENT
The survey done therefore revealed that cases of child hopelessness is mainly brought about by the grinding prverty experience in the village coupled with rampant cases of HIV/AIDS which has continued to ravage homesteads depriving children of their only educational providers, protectors and only genuine parents who would provide them with the required love and livelihoods living them displaced and even to the streets of urban centers. Poverty has made it even harder for their extended families to assist in one way or the other. SWA-CC centre therefore started mobilzation on 1st October, 2011 after seeing the crucial and urgent need to provide this children with an alternative environment where they can feel accepted loved, cared for e.t.c. so that they can have opportunity, freedom and peace of mind to further their education skills and generally try to cushion them from hostile experience they have in live. The centre operates this institution the name SWA-CC centre, but due to lack of resources the centre has not been able to put up the needed structures to accomodate these children but save for a kind hearted church member who has volunteered his room spiritual nourishment and support because the same room is also used as a church on temporary bases. In addition to all these, we also treat and care for these children. The centre is also involved in other activities geared towards presentation and alleviation of the impacts of HIV/AIDS in this area. Currently the projects has a total 50 children for a start and in furies it is expected to integrate and serve children throughout the district and out of the district as it expands. JUSTIFICATION
The project is justified for the following reasons:
Cases of HIV/AIDS are on the increase in the area killing one parent after another living their poor children ar the mercy of the world. Poverty in this part runs so high that the surviving relatives of the dead persons are so poor that they can not take care of their own families and the orphans at the same time. Increase in displaced children
Increase in cases of early school dropouts. Stigma for those people known to be affected and infected with HIV/AIDS is deeply rooted in this area in that these children find that they cannot cope in these other learning institutions because they are subject to segregation and the likes. The surviving relatives to the dead person also tend to oppress these children making lives to these orphans even more difficult. The free primary education programmed offered by the Kenyan government cannot in any sustain the upkeep of this most vulnerable children even in these other learning institutions given the much hostile situation they face and also if it is remembered that the governments support programs just like a drop in the ocean. We collaborate with other partners e.g. the ministry education, Department, Department of social services, CACC and others. FOCUS OF THE PROJECT
To provide hope to this hopeless orphaned children and others from poor families. We are planning to set up health clinics in rural areas and organize workshops for Aids awareness.
