Periods don’t stop for anything, and neither should a girl’s education. 📚✨

May is Menstrual Health Month! At Keyang Tipin Care for Girls Foundation, we believe that menstrual hygiene is a fundamental human right, not a luxury. We are working on the ground to ensure every girl has the tools, knowledge, and confidence to manage her cycle with dignity.

Join us in breaking the stigma and empowering the next generation of leaders.

Empowering the next generation, one story at a time.

During our latest session with the girls in our Keep Pokot Girls in School Mentorship Program, we focused on reading, comprehension, and expression through shared storytelling! From reading and writing to sharing their perspectives, these girls are building incredible confidence in how they express themselves.

To make the journey even more personal, everyone handcrafted their own journal covers using beautiful fabrics. Now, they have a unique, creative space to keep their thoughts and writing practice flowing!

Education shouldn’t have a monthly “pause” button. Every dollar raised during our Virtual Pad Drive goes directly toward ensuring girls can stay in the classroom with dignity and confidence. We’ve already hit 67% of our goal, thanks to this incredible community!

With just $800 left to raise, your contribution today can be the reason a student doesn’t fall behind.

At Keyang Tipin Foundation, we stand firm: FGM is a violation of human rights and a profound threat to the health, dignity, and lives of girls and women. It has no medical justification and no place in any society.
FGM causes lifelong physical, emotional, and psychological harm. It affects girls long before they are able to understand what is being done to them and follows many women throughout their lives impacting health, education, relationships, and childbirth. Behind every statistic is a girl whose autonomy was taken away and a woman living with the consequences of violence she did not choose.

Today, as we mark Zero Tolerance Day, we are reminded that progress against FGM is real but fragile. Communities, survivors, advocates, and governments have worked for decades to reduce this harm and protect girls through education, dialogue, and law.
That is why we are deeply concerned by the current attempts in The Gambia to reverse the 2015 ban on FGM. Rolling back anti-FGM legislation would undermine hard-won gains and put countless girls at risk. Progress must move forward, not backward. Decriminalizing FGM sends a dangerous message that violence against girls can be justified.

We call on leaders, advocates, and communities to:
• Protect and uphold laws that ban FGM
• Educate on the lifelong health and human rights impacts of the practice
• Empower and protect girls so they can grow up safe, whole, and free from violence

On this day, we stand with girls at risk and with women who live with the consequences of FGM. Maintaining progress is not optional—it is a responsibility.
Together, we can end FGM.
And together, we must protect the gains already made.

At St. Sophia, we went beyond health and safety and talked about futures.
Through group discussions and mentorship conversations, girls reflected on who they want to become and explored careers they’re often told are “not for them,” including engineers, architects, leaders, builders, and innovators.
We were grateful to have two volunteer engineers share their journeys and show the girls what’s possible.
These conversations help girls see more options, more paths, and more control over their futures.

Started the year at Karas Mixed School with our school-based training! One of the highlights was hearing a boy say he used to fear buying or touching menstrual health products — now he knows he can help the girls. Moments like this remind us why this work matters.

We also talked about GBV, what to do if someone ever experiences it, and sexual and reproductive health — making sure students have the knowledge and information they need.

On December 19th, when Pastor Ann reached out, we showed up 🤍
Part of our work is partnering with churches to create safe spaces for young people. During their annual youth camp, we had an amazing training day with the youths, having honest conversations around GBV, how to report and the steps to take, alongside discussions on drug abuse, early pregnancies and their risks, and early marriages. With GBV cases often rising during the holiday season, these conversations are especially critical. Thank you for welcoming us and holding space for them.
