🌿💧📚 Protecting Girls, Restoring Dignity, Building Climate-Resilient Futures
Samburu Indigenous Community Organisation (SAICO) is pleased to announce the launch of our project, "Protecting Girls, Restoring Dignity, Building Climate-Resilient Futures."
This initiative will be implemented in three key phases aimed at improving the lives of women and girls in our communities.
Phase 1: Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience As part of our efforts to strengthen climate resilience, SAICO donated water tanks to two women's groups in Wamba – Loruko and Westgate. The tanks will support kitchen garden projects, enabling the women to grow fresh vegetables, improve household nutrition, enhance food security, and adapt to the challenges of climate change.
Phase 2: Literacy Education for Indigenous Women We believe education is a powerful tool for transformation. Through this phase, indigenous women will gain basic literacy and numeracy skills, empowering them to participate more effectively in social and economic development.
Phase 3: Community Sensitization on FGM and Early Marriage SAICO remains committed to protecting the rights and dignity of girls. We will conduct community awareness and sensitization activities to address harmful practices such as Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM) and child/early marriage, while promoting education and opportunities for girls.
We are hopeful that this project will create lasting positive change by empowering women, protecting girls, strengthening community resilience, and building a brighter future for generations to come.
