Education is an equalizer, and it is a basic human right! 📚❤️
These four little angels from Ngilai West age between 11years and 13 years made the bold decision to run away from home in pursuit of a better future and to escape the retrogressive practices of FGM and early marriage. We are grateful for their courage and determination. They yearned for education, walked miles seeking help, and eventually reached Wamba Police Station.
Through the contingency fund from the NAAPU Indigenous Women Fund , we were able to purchase a few essential personal items and support their school fees for Term 1.and hopeful that trough well wishers the rest of the terms will be sorted!!
In consultation with the relevant authorities and stakeholders, we facilitated their admission to Wamba DEB Primary School. Special thanks to the school administration for making the process smooth and welcoming.
We believe in mending the relationship between these girls, their parents, and the wider community. These girls need the support of their families and communities as they build their futures. We therefore engaged the Gender Officer and worked with the parents, who committed to ensuring the girls return to school when the next term begins.
I am happy to share that three of the girls have resumed school. One is still facing challenges, but we have not given up on her. We are following up closely with the Area Chief, Gender Officer, and Children’s Officer. We will not disappoint her. ❤️
Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, dream, and build a better future. It is the responsibility of every community member to ensure that every child has access to education, protection, and a chance to thrive.
