A three-day workshop on the National Strategy to Prevent and Counter Violent Extremism (2025β2030) has successfully concluded following vibrant and engaging discussions with stakeholders implementing the Wajir County Action Plan on Violent Extremism.
The workshop aimed at fast-tracking the implementation of the National Strategy at the county level by strengthening coordination, enhancing stakeholder collaboration, and aligning county priorities with national objectives. The engagement brought together key actors involved in Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (P/CVE) in Wajir County, providing a platform for dialogue, experience sharing, and strategic alignment.
The sessions were facilitated by a team from the National Counter Terrorism Centre with support from the European Union.
Speaking during the closing session, Hon. Khalif Hirbate, the County Executive Committee (CEC) Member in the Office of the Governor in charge of Special Programmes, Public Service and County Administration, reaffirmed the county governmentβs commitment to supporting the implementation of the strategy and ensuring sustained collaboration among stakeholders.
The workshop was graced by the County Commissioner, Mr. Karuku Ngumo, who emphasized the importance of inter-agency coordination and community involvement in preventing violent extremism.
We are proud to share that Hussein Ahmed represented Wajir One Youth Association (WOYA) during the workshop. His participation reflects WOYAβs continued commitment to peacebuilding, youth empowerment, and strengthening community resilience against violent extremism in Wajir County.
The workshop marked a significant step toward strengthening local efforts in addressing violent extremism through coordinated and community-driven approaches.
